I'm delighted to announce Ballads and Songs: Sam Carter sings Nic Jones. This is a one-tour-only celebration of Nic's wonderful repertoire, so I hope you'll get your t!ckets and join me at a venue or festival near you!

And that's not all. Sam Carter Sings Nic Jones: Live at Celtic Connections is out on June 26th. The album is available to pre-order now on CD and download exclusively via Bandcamp, link in comments.

Master Kilby is out today as a single across streaming services, and is also included as an instant download with all Bandcamp pre-orders.

I'm hugely grateful to the Jones family for giving this project their blessing, especially to Nic’s daughter Helen for being my point of contact while I pulled this all together.

Sam Sweeney’s one part of the trio… but who are the other two? 👀

Joining Sam Sweeney is Ben Nicholls, a double bass player renowned for his inimitable tone and groove. With a background that spans many genres, Ben brings depth and drive to the trio’s sound. A long-time collaborator with Seth Lakeman and a seasoned session musician, his trademark sound provides the perfect foundation for the group’s intricate interplay.

On guitar is Louis Campbell, a rising star of the British folk scene whose playing defies categorisation. Combining dazzling technical skill with an instinctive understanding of harmony and space, Louis adds colour and edge to the trio. His innovative approach to accompaniment and melody makes him a captivating musical presence.

In case you missed it Showman and Coole originally scheduled for 9th May has been cancelled.

We all know Dave couldn’t ACTUALLY pick a favourite from his folk programme at Wolverhampton Arts Centre … but we backed him into a corner ...

“My pick for the folk spring programme has to be Sam Sweeney. Any member of Bellowhead is bound to generate more interest but in Sam’s case it is fully justified. And yes it’s on a Friday, if I wanted a Saturday I would have had to wait another couple of years to get him.”
