Tansley Village Hall is located at the heart of Tansley, an attractive village in the scenic Derbyshire Dales, close to Matlock and the Peak District National Park. It is situated next to the village green, the children's playground and a bus stop for the 143 bus route. The Hall is funded by hiring its spaces to people. It receives no grants in normal circumstances. It is run by volunteers who giv

e freely of their time. Built in 1843, this attractive stone building was originally the village school. Its Victorian heritage gives it a particular character and charm. Now fully renovated and modernised, it is a beautiful venue for family parties and receptions, family celebrations, business meetings, group activities, concerts, theatrical performances and rehearsals etc. With a large main hall and two other large rooms, there's sure to be the space that you need for your event. It has 100 beautiful upholstered banqueting/conference chairs, 32 folding tables and crockery, glassware and cutlery for over 100 guests, all included in the hire charge. For full, comprehensive information about Tansley Village Hall, including all the facilities for hire and our regular events, classes and groups, please visit our web site tansleyvillagehall.org.uk . When arriving in Tansley on the A615 from the east via the A38 and Wessington, turn RIGHT up Church Street, shortly after The Tavern Inn. Alternatively, if coming from the west via Matlock on the A615, after 1 mile turn LEFT up Church Street. Once in Church Street, Tansley Village Hall is on the RIGHT-hand side of the street, adjacent to the village green and the 4th turning right (called Spout Lane). Please do not confuse Tansley Village Hall with the smaller Tansley Community Hall on the left-hand side (just past 1st left on Church Street). About 6 to 8 cars can park on our small car park, preferably with the front or rear of the car facing the Hall. Others should park in Church Street on the same side of the road as the Hall, preferably between Gold Hill (3rd right) and The Old Coach Road (4th left). Please do NOT park on pavements. Please do NOT park in Spout Lane as it is a narrow road providing access for wide farm tractors, refuse collection lorries, ambulances and fire engines to the fields, Fete Field and houses at the top of the lane as well as being used by nearby residents needing parking space. The upper room is accessed from the rear of the Hall by walking up Spout Lane to the grass area behind the building. Please walk up the concrete slope and a few steps to the door. Only O2, Tesco and Vodafone networks (not EE) have good coverage near/inside the Hall. We don't have Wi-Fi. If you need it for your class, presentation, meeting or business, please use your phone's Vodafone or O2 data access service. To connect a laptop using Wi-Fi, you can establish a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone. Alternatively, bring a Vodafone or O2 mobile Wi-Fi hotspot device with you or connect using a local BT Wi-Fi hotspot. If you have hired the Hall and would like to write a review for us, please add it to Halls Hire at https://www.hallshire.com/halls/view/608/tansley-village-hall .

UPDATED 31/7: To enhance people's safety inside the Hall we have fitted (on a trial basis) a doorbell push with two internal wireless chimes with blue LEDs, plugged into mains sockets (with power-throughs so the sockets can still be used). There's one chime in the main hall and another in the meeting room. Organisers can 'lock' the front door when everyone has arrived to enhance their safety from intruders. People can still open the door easily to leave if they need to, as now. Late arrivals can press the doorbell (see photo 1) to alert someone to let them in if they are recognised through the front door's full height vision panel (window). The organiser can adjust the volume or mute a chime if they wish to using the little white button at the bottom left of a chime (see photo 3).

Many thanks to Bill today for testing our our many portable appliances (and some fixed ones) and extension cables, and the battery backed-up emergency lights located in all of our rooms, lobbies and toilets. Two lights needed replacing as they failed to illuminate automatically when the electricity mains was switched off (as part of the test).

When we started in 2009 our entry charge for visitors was £4. Today, 16 years later, our charge is still only £4! That's owing to the popularity of our screenings, often with 70 or more at a film, the amazing value for money that Tansley Village Hall offers its customers (like us) and relatively low increases in licence and media costs.

Our Story

WE ARE OPEN AGAIN TO OUR REGULAR CUSTOMERS. WE CANNOT TAKE BOOKINGS FOR PARTIES AND RECEPTIONS AT PRESENT.

Tansley Village Hall is located at the heart of Tansley, next to the village green and children's playground. All hirers must complete our online hire agreement and accept our booking conditions by visiting http://form.jotform.co/form/32626377520858 . When using a Sat Nav to visit us, please ensure that you enter DE4 5FH. A slip of the finger, e.g. putting GH rather than FH will take you to Lea, a village 4 miles away to the south! When arriving in Tansley on the A615 from the east via the A38 and Wessington, turn RIGHT up Church Street, shortly after The Tavern Inn. Coming from the west via Matlock, turn LEFT up Church Street just after the Matlock Gurkha Inn. Once in Church Street, we are on the RIGHT-hand side adjacent to the village green and the 4th turning right (called Spout Lane). Please do not confuse us with the smaller Tansley Community Hall on the left-hand side (just past 1st left on Church Street).

Coming on the A632 from Chesterfield (or from Sheffield over East Moor) turn left into Lant Lane at the top of Slack Hill and follow the narrow road, later Whitelea Lane, down to Tansley and to Church Street. We are on the LEFT-hand side of Church Street adjacent to the village green and Spout Lane.

Please do NOT park in Spout Lane as it restricts access for residents and wide emergency/service/farm vehicles.
