A very brief history of Freedom 2 Dance:
This July marked the 32nd anniversary of the first "Freedom 2 Dance – Back 2 ’89" event. Held at Busby’s/LA2 next to the Astoria, it was the first in a series of events celebrating early house music classics.The Freedom 2 Dance tagline was "The House They Left Behind."
While many events claim to be the original, this was likely the first of its kind.
The flyers were designed by Pez as hand-painted one-offs, featuring a legendary lineup: Paul Anderson (RIP), Colin Faver (RIP), Fabio, Jumping Jack Frost, and Rob Blake.
That Friday night also saw the founding of the Freedom 2 Dance brand, with 1,300 people in attendance and another 300 turned away. VIP guests even included Paul Ince and the late Paula Yates (RIP)!✨ You can catch F2D in the garden at the next Moondance at Studio 338!
