We introduce Zaria to you, coming on 18th November. Such beautiful songwriter, with songs in both English and Afrikaans.

My heart is aching for Norman Druker who over the years has been such a big Tuned In London supporter. I will write more… But here today is a radio show in his honour compiled by DJ Ritu who he used to assist on a weekly basis, at SOAS Radio then dashing to Resonance 104.4fm. Is that where I first met him? Could be…. So, we say this is a must-listen. Today at 6pm or online in your own time.

Norman Druker, our much-loved colleague and AWIL family member for more than 13 years, passed away on October 8th. In this programme, Ritu has picked out tracks by artists Norman introduced to the show and other music that he loved. Norman will live forever in our hearts, ears, and minds. ❤

Do you remember when Gaza Sunbirds co-founder Karim Ali came to tell us about what they do? It was at our first Faris Ishaq concert at City Hope London in Bermondsey. We raised money for them.

Wednesday and Friday this week at long last Alaa al Dali will be getting to compete on a big international stage: the Asian Para Games.

At the time of that concert, Alaa was still in Gaza. His family is still there. We wish him luck.

What an honour to have phenomenal guitarist Ramon Goose back again this time with his band The-Compadres, with the result that Kieffer Santander’s congas, Paolo Minervini’ double bass and Ramon’s guitars filled the church with their special Blues-infused Cuban music. We got hints of jazz and African desert Blues too. And a great turnout for this start of the Autumn season. Thanks to the musicians, to Paul Madden on sound and Saif and Carlos who ran the bar. We had a great evening followed by a drink in the MayflowerPub.
