We recently helped the British Paralympic Association create fully accessible step-free access at one of Westminster's most prestigious event venues. 🦽

8 Northumberland Avenue required two modular wheelchair ramps — one external from the public street, one internal within the venue — both fully DDA-compliant and finished to match the event aesthetic.

The external ramp required Westminster Council approval to occupy the pavement, and we supported that process from start to finish.

Works couldn't begin until 9:00am, with a 3:00pm handover deadline. The full installation took five hours.

Both ramps were finished with Pacific Blue carpet to match the venue throughout — so they felt like part of the event, not a retrofit.

Throwback to an ambitious build we did a while back for a long-standing partner of ours, the Kiln Theatre 🛠️

This build required a unique set design - a split-level, skeletal representation of a New York residential building - for a production of The Purists.

Using a detailed 3D model of the structure for reference, we created a robust raised platform (nearly 4m high!) with the help of rigging hoists to complement the urban design of the show.

And as The Kiln is a member of the Theatre Green Book, we used reusable Steeldeck, avoiding single-use construction and minimising waste.

We worked as a key collaborator on this project over the course of two months, with the build itself taking just 3 days.

The result was a striking and functional set design that perfectly captured the show’s industrial style!

We designed a temporary structure for a car launch in a skatepark! 🚗 🛹

d&b solutions approached us as they needed help creating staging for the launch of the new CUPRA Raval, hosted at Projekts MCR Skatepark in Manchester.

Steeldeck designed and installed a bespoke structure that could safely support the weight of the vehicle and the performers throughout the event.

The space itself presented a series of constraints, including strict height restrictions that meant the car could not be craned into position.

The solution was to include a temporary load-in ramp system, which was installed, removed for the performance, and then re-installed for an efficient and controlled load-out of the vehicle.

This way, we were able to deliver both creativity and practicality to maintain safety, speed of turnaround and visual impact throughout the event staging build.

We stock a huge range of different platforms at Steeldeck, including circular staging 🌀

Reflecting on a project we worked on with Factory International, which required bespoke curved staging to house a lighting installation.

The platforms had to be built to very specific dimensions and heights to ensure that the public could easily move around the installation, and to hide the lighting fixtures so that only the beams of light would be visible.

We worked closely with the team to design a solution using small Steeldeck platforms as the stage base, with bespoke cladding, guardrails and drapes.

This is exactly the kind of project that we enjoy - designing solutions that use our hire stock as the base structure, with bespoke and seamless finishes.
