🌅 Sunrise hike up Slieve Binnian
We set our alarms for the unusual time of 2am yesterday… and by 3:30am we were gathered at the walkers car park at Carrick Little, ready for a sunrise hike up Slieve Binnian (747m)!
There were 10 of us there, wrapped up against a bitter north-easterly (‘feels-life temp of -4 🥶), but we were excited and spirits were highish!
We reached the rocky top around 5am, for a 5.30am sunrise and the light around the summit was beautiful, well worth the early start.
Aria (all 9 years of her) crushed it, and it was Rosa’s first proper Mournes hike - she absolutely loved it 🐾
We completed the Binnian loop past Ben Crom and Blue Lough and got back to the car park around 7.40am and finished things off in the best way possible — elite BBQ bacon butties, followed by a freezing cold dip at the Bloody Bridge rockpools to wake us up for the drive home🥶
Big shoutout to Waggy Races legend Karen Wilton (and collie Eli) who somehow still had energy to go and do (& win - congrats Karen) a 10k at Silent Valley yest afternoon 🤯.
Tired and groggy today, but 100% worth it.
