As a final post, we closed with 26 beers, 9 ciders and 2 perries still on. Thank you all for visiting, we hope you all had a great time, drank some new to you beers and got home safely.

The Next Summer Beer Festival is the first full week of September and provisionally set to be the 8th to 12th of September

Thank you for helping raise funds for the museum.

It’s a bit of a damp start here at Chappel this morning. There’s been quite a bit of rain overnight but the forecast says it should be slowing or stopping by about 11 o’clock ie opening time. Unfortunately the Met Office also say it’s gonna drizzle about 3 o’clock and 5 o’clock later this afternoon

If you’re coming today, please remember that this is a Railway Museum most of the year. There are quite a few puddles around so again please don’t wear your white shoes, sandals or stilettos.

Beer and Cider wise we have what we expected with two thirds sold so far. We have 10 golden beers, 21 mid/best bitters and 19 dark beers running, along with 15 Ciders and 3 Perrys still on. It’s been a case of all the beers selling well rather than everyone concentrating on one style.

Todays weather is predicted to be between 8 and 13*C 0 and 14*C cloudy with a moderate breeze, with light rains starting early afternoon.

For most of the year the site is a railway museum, while we cover off as many of the hazards as we can we recommend you wear suitable footwear so you do not get stones in your shoes a lot, or maybe stub an unwary toe on the track.

Not the greatest photo but this years glass celebrates 145 years of Great Eastern Railway (GER) commuting.

Todays weather is predicted to be between 10 and 14*C cloudy with a moderate breeze, with very little chance of rain. Its up to you how much you trust the Met Office to believe that. :)

Please remember that for most of the year the site is a railway museum, and so we recommend you wear suitable footwear. If you wearing Sandals or Stilettos your very likely to get stones in your shoes a lot, or maybe stub a toe on the track.

The Scaffolding (or rather Stillage) is now up, and we are awaiting the beer arrival...

NOTE: We have a Travel Update, its reported that the A1124 is closed at Earls Colne.

If you are traveling from the West: If your using the A1124, please use the signed diversion route to get to the Festival. It may be better to use the A120 and go through Great Tey to Chappel. Do not turn off at Coggeshall and go via Earls Colne.

From the East (A12): Again if your using the A1124 the road closure at Earls Colne is after the turn to the Museum so you should not be affected.

As ever more details and how to buy tickets are on the web site - https://chappelbeerfestival.org.uk/

The Winter beer list is now live - https://chappelbeerfestival.org.uk/

Cider List will follow presently

As always the list is what we have ordered, and the list will update as new beers are added, descriptions are modified or if beers get swapped out by the brewers. Its will not be "correct" until we have everything fully set up on stillage.

Tickets can be bought via the web site and for winter due to limitations of space, especially in case of bad weather, the Winter Chappel Beer Festival is a ticket only event. Tickets must be purchased before arrival. There are no tickets on the door.

Just a post to say that the beer ordering is starting to come together and we plan to release the beer list on the 14th as a Valentines Day treat. 🍺

I’m happy to say we have worked through most of the issues, and ticket for the Chappel Winter Beer Festival are now on sale. Our problem was the web site was attacked over the holiday period, and it has taken a while to switch servers, get the site back up and running on the new hosts, as well as having to go over the site code to ensure there are no unpleasant surprises lurking for anyone.

The Winter Festival will be open Thursday 26 Feb, Friday 27 Feb and Saturday 28 Feb 2026. As usual we operate with ticket arrival time. You need to purchase a ticket for the time you intend to arrive, but once you are here you can stay all day. Due to limitations of space, especially in case of bad weather, Chappel Winter Beer Festival is a ticket only event. Tickets must be purchased before arrival. There are no tickets on the door.

Tickets are issued to cover two entry times. Tickets purchased for the first session each day will be valid all day until we close but please come in before 16:00. Sessions are 11:00 to 16:00 and 16:00 to 21:30. Tickets include Festival Glass plus a starter pack of £10 worth of beer tokens as well as admission.
For more details and a link to the ticket site please see

The 2026 Chappel Winter Beer Festival is intended to be on Thursday the 26th, Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th of February 2026. We normally get the web site updated with the event details before the priors year end, and tickets then go on sale at the start of January, but we are having some technical issues with web sites.

It should not take too long to get resolved,, however as soon as we go live and tickets go on sale I’ll post another update here.
