A brilliant day at Keeran Moss with the RSPB Youth Network 🌿

We spent the day exploring this special peatland habitat through a mix of hands-on activities, games, learning and plenty of getting stuck in!

The RSPB Youth Network also helped pilot some of the activities and ideas we’re exploring for future opportunities to welcome more people to Keeran Moss and discover this special natural space for themselves.

We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the RSPB and RSPB Youth Network to shine a light on the importance of peatlands and the incredible nature right on our doorstep here in Mid and East Antrim 💚

What a special night 🦇✨

BAT WALK 📍Cullybackey

We spotted Leisler’s, common pipistrelle and soprano pipistrelle, while learning loads about these fascinating creatures and the important role they play in our environment.

There’s something pretty amazing about looking up into the night sky and knowing these incredible animals are flying around right on our doorstep here in Mid and East Antrim 💫

‼️Fishing line doesn’t belong on our coastline‼️

🦦 A dead otter was recently found at Portmuck, Islandmagee, tangled in discarded fishing line.

It’s a heartbreaking reminder that what might seem like a small piece of waste can have serious consequences for wildlife 💔

Fishing line, hooks, nets and other fishing gear can remain in the environment for a long time and pose a real risk of entanglement to otters, birds, seals and other coastal wildlife.

🎣 If you fish, please take your unwanted line and fishing gear home with you and dispose of it responsibly. Never leave it on the shore, rocks or in the water.

Please also pick up any fishing line you spot where it is safe to do so — and report larger or dangerous items rather than putting yourself at risk.

Our coastline is home to incredible wildlife. Let’s make sure what we leave behind doesn’t become a trap.

Today, 17 brilliant volunteers joined us in Glenarm to take part in the Marine Conservation Society’s Big Seaweed Search 🌊 Helping to gather valuable information about the health of our coastline and the incredible seaweed living along it.

A huge thank you to Claire from the Marine Conservation Society and Anna from Ulster Wildlife for leading the session and sharing their knowledge with us. 💚
