The second Sŵn spotlight pick sees us feature one of Yorkshire's finest:
Hailing from Halifax, The Orielles have been playing music together for 17 years and have been going through a constant evolution. Initially breaking through with indie oddball songs such as ‘Sugar Tastes like Salt’, there has always been the air of something different to the band. Never conforming to industry trends, they have truly carved out their own path, and continue to do so.
From electrifying indie numbers to stargazing alt pop, their most recent album ‘Only You left’ is much more meditative than other works. The songs feel as though they belong to their own distinct universe. The record reached number 1 on the UK independent vinyl chart, and is the product of a band who have aged well as they continue to refine their sound.

Yn dod o Halifax, mae The Orielles wedi bod yn chwarae gyda’i gilydd ers 17 mlynedd, gan esblygu’n gyson ar hyd y ffordd.
O’u dyddiau cynnar gyda chaneuon indie od fel ‘Sugar Tastes Like Salt’, roedd hi’n amlwg bod rhywbeth bach yn wahanol am y band. Yn hytrach na dilyn tueddiadau’r diwydiant, maen nhw wedi creu byd eu hunain, ac yn dal i’w ehangu.
Mae eu halbwm diweddaraf, ‘Only You Left’, yn symud o ganeuon indie trydanol i alt-pop myfyriol. Mae’r caneuon yn teimlo fel petaen nhw’n byw mewn bydysawd cwbl ar wahân, a’r record gyrhaeddodd rif 1 ar siart finyl annibynnol y DU.
