Auditions are now open for our Spring 2027 play: Baby Taj 🌅

Baby Taj follows the story of Rachel, a 37 year old single Jewish American travel writer, on the brink of making a life-changing decision: entering a pact with her pregnant best friend to become a parent herself. Panicked by the gravity of commitment, she escapes to Agra, India—home of the iconic Taj Mahal and its exquisite, lesser-known counterpart, the “Baby Taj”—to write a travel piece.

Once there, Rachel stays with her friend’s traditional family and finds herself swept into a lively web of cross-cultural matchmaking, vibrant local history, and unexpected romance. As she navigates the colorful dynamics of Indian family life, arranged relationships, and ancient tales of enduring devotion, Rachel’s cynical exterior begins to peel away. Surrounded by larger-than-life characters and centuries of history, she is forced to confront her deepest fears about vulnerability, love, and what it truly takes to welcome a child into the world.

Auditions will take place on November 9th and 11th at Whitby Courthouse Theatre
