Promoting and advancing sport in Niagara.

Sport Niagara is a not-for-profit organization established to carry on the sport legacy from the Niagara 2022 Canada Games. Sport Niagara will support the attraction and hosting of future sport events in Niagara, and promote sport through various programs focused on advancing high-performance and community sport. Over the course of the next several months, Sport Niagara will continue to develop its organization’s strategic governance and business plans.

🏃‍♂️𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲
Meet Lucio Ianiero

⚽ Lucio Ianiero is a Canadian soccer coach and former player who is the head coach of Niagara 1812.

⚽ He played in the Canadian Soccer League, American Professional Soccer League, Canadian National Soccer League, National Professional Soccer League, and the Canadian Professional Soccer League.

⚽ Ianiero participated in the 1985 FIFA World Youth Championship and the inaugural 1989 Futsal World Cup in the Netherlands. He made his senior debut for Canada in an August 1986 Merlion Cup match against Singapore and went on to earn 17 caps.

⚽In 2024, he was named the head coach of Niagara 1812 for both the men's team in the National Premier Soccer League and the women's team in the Women's Premier Soccer League.

Sport Niagara is excited to share that the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association (CSSRA) will be holding their Annual Championships on June 5-7, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course

🏐Meet Ian Woods

Ian Woods is the Founder and Director of Youth Programming for Dodgeball St. Catharines, leading the design and delivery of structured programming focused on skill development, teamwork, and long-term enjoyment of sport for athletes aged 8–13.

Ian is dedicated to strengthening the local dodgeball community by helping create welcoming environments where athletes of all ages and abilities can learn, improve, compete, and enjoy the sport long-term.
