Greetings Chess Fans,
I pray we all had a good summer, our summer chess program went along quite swimmingly thank you very much - we filled all of our seats for both program sessions. Now that the weather is turning, we avert our attention to more scholarly pursuits, like chess, with an eye on fun competition and the tournament season in April.
This year we have our Fall chess programs scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays starting on the week of September 9. (Please find literature enclosed.)
Our Chess Nation Charity BBQ is on Saturday 7 September at the Real Canadian Superstore in St. Catharines. We set up our garden chess set, a couple tables, and with the help of a few volunteer chess players we raise awareness for chess and donations for Community Care. Please contact me if you are interested in having your children or yourself volunteer.
The Grape Festival Parade is on Saturday 28 September. This is our second year participating in the parade and all past medal winners are invited to attended. Follow the links through www.chessnation.org for sign-up information.
Mark your calendar! we are adding two P.D. Day Chess Nation Tournaments this year: the first on Friday 17 January and the second on Friday 14 February. They will be age specific: 13 and under,10 and under, and 8 and under. Details to be announced at a later date.
September is always a busy season for us, so please help and spread the good word about the benefits of chess. If you would like to volunteer and start or help with chess at your school contact me and with my program basics I can make it easy.
