The night doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down.

At the Commissary, the lights stay on and the energy keeps moving. Start with Chef Char’s Snack Shack, where local chef Charlotte Langley puts a fresh spin on nostalgic snack bar favourites. Think big sandwiches, epic pull-aparts and the kind of food that makes you want one more bite.

And there’s always a reason to come back: Fridays showcase free live music in our weekly Porch Sessions, check out local favourite Tony Forbes tonight at 6pm!

The Commissary is where the District comes to the table. Come for the food, stay for the music, the people and whatever’s happening.

Open late on Fridays & Saturdays.

A meaningful step forward for affordable homeownership in Prince Edward County.

Base31 and Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings have announced a new partnership to create more affordable homeownership opportunities in the County, beginning with affordable homeownership townhouses within Hilltop Village, the first residential village planned at Base31.

The partnership advances Housing for All, one of the central pillars of the Base31 master plan, developed through extensive community consultation. Together, we’re working to create more attainable pathways to homeownership and ensure a range of housing choices is part of the future community from the very beginning.

As part of the plan, Base31 will make a designated block of townhouse lots available to Habitat for Humanity PEH. Base31 will lead exterior construction and provide development, trade-coordination, scheduling and site-logistics support, while Habitat will complete the interiors and select and support qualifying homeowners through its established affordable homeownership program.

We’re proud to be turning Housing for All from a vision into action, alongside a partner with deep experience helping families build a path to homeownership.

What does it mean to build community—not simply buildings?

As Base31 evolves, that question is shaping the decisions we make, the partnerships we build and the ways we invest in Prince Edward County.

Some of that work is already underway:

• 49 new licensed childcare spaces created with The HUB Child & Family Centre
• Hundreds of events and activities each year, including free cultural experiences and community-led programming
• 120 purpose-built rental homes planned, including 10% affordable units
• More than 40 historic military buildings being preserved and adaptively reused
• More than 450,000 square feet of commercial and community space planned to be restored and activated over time

But numbers tell only part of the story.

Community impact also means creating welcoming places where people can gather, supporting organizations that serve local residents, expanding housing choices, preserving the history of this remarkable site and contributing to a stronger four-season economy.

It means listening, building partnerships and recognizing that Base31’s success won’t be measured only by what happens within our property lines, but also by the value we help create for the broader community.

Our Building Community at Base31 webpage brings this work together—outlining how we’re showing up today, what we’re planning for the future and the commitments that will continue to guide us as Base31 grows.

We’ll continue to report on our progress as new initiatives, partnerships and milestones take shape.
