Hal-Con is an annual weekend event held in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Atlantic Canada and held at the end of fall. Originally showcasing comic books, games, science fiction/fantasy and film/television, and related popular arts. It has grown to encompasses the full-spectrum of geekdom, including Comic Books, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Gaming, Cyberpunk, Steampunk, Renaissance, Anime, and anything else of the fantastical while still having enough appeal for even the most casual fan. Comics, comics, comics!

Liana Kangas is an award-winning comic book illustrator and creator whose vibrant and visually stunning work has made them one of the most exciting voices in comics today. Their publishing credits span IDW, Dark Horse, Image, BOOM! Studios, Oni Press, Archie, Vault, Ahoy, Tiny Onion, and 2000 AD, with licensed work across beloved franchises including Star Wars, Star Trek, and Stranger Things. Liana contributed to the Eisner Award-winning Godzilla 70th Anniversary Anthology and the Peabody Award-winning HBO Max series Fantasmas, and co-created Know Your Station with author Sarah Gailey at BOOM! Studios, earning a Hugo long-list nomination. When not making comics, Liana connects with fans through their monthly Sticker Club on Patreon and at conventions across the country.

Welcome yet another cosplay guest to Hal-Con 2026!

Partners since 2015, Doll Damage Cosplay is a team in both cosplay and life. Doll specializes mainly in sewing, embellishment, sculpture, painting and small details.Damage Cosplay specializes in armor making, costume reverse engineering, props and manual work.Since their beginning, they have grown through their experiences, research and the advice of their peers. They love to push their limits and try new techniques with each new project.

Multiple Best in Show and Class in locals contest. Canadians representative 2019, 2021, and 2024 to the World Cosplay Summit. 3rd and 2nd place at Art to Play 2019 and 2022, and the participation at Polymanga 2023. They are the first Canadians to win 1st place at an international contest - Polymanga 2025. Also Doll is our current 2027 WCS Canada representative.

GoBeyond Cosplay is coming to Hal-Con 2026!

They are an ICG International Master cosplayer, with more than 15 years of stage and craft experience, and was Canada’s 2025 representative at the Nordic Cosplay Championships in Sweden.

As a jack-of-all-trades they specialize in generalizing, with a particular passion for finishings and performances that tell a story! They are practiced in the classic cosplay skills like sewing and foamsmithing, as well as niche techniques like embroidery, 3D modelling, and leatherworking, among many others. They are constantly pushing to add new skills to their repertoire to level up their cosplays. When it comes to the stage their aim is to bring characters to life and tell stories that get you invested.

We can't wait to see what cosplayers they bring for the weekend!

There is a very convincing scam email going around falsely inviting people to apply to Hal-Con as a vendor, with a link to an application form.

This is a reminder that the only safe application link for Hal-Con vendors is listed on our website, and it has been closed since April. Email correspondence from the vendor team will always come from an -con.com email address.

If you have been in contact with anyone who uses an .com, .com, or ANYTHING other than -con.com email regarding your application, please contact us at [email protected] to confirm if you are actually registered as a vendor. Thank you to those who have already reached out.

Please welcome Paul Tremblay to Hal-Con 2026!

He has won the Bram Stoker, British Fantasy, Sheridan Le Fanu, and Massachusetts Book awards. He is also the New York Times and national bestselling author of nine previous novels (Another, Horror Movie, The Pallbearers Club, Survivor Song, The Cabin at the End of the World, Disappearance at Devil's Rock, A Head Full of Ghosts, No Sleep Till Wonderland, and The Little Sleep) and two short fiction collections (The Beast You Are and Growing Things). His novel The Cabin at the End of the World was adapted into the Universal Pictures film Knock at the Cabin. An adaptation of A Head Full of Ghosts is currently in post production. His newest novel, Dead but Dreaming of Electric Sheep, published in June 2026 and was an instant national best seller. His essays and short fiction have appeared in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, and numerous “year's best” anthologies.

If you ladies are done chattering, it's time to announce our next guest!

Chanse McCrary is a Los Angeles–based multi-hyphenate (love this) redefining what it means to be a modern comedian. Since joining Smosh as an official cast member in August 2022 , Chanse has helped lead one of the internet’s most iconic comedy brands—boasting over 26 million subscribers and a long-standing reputation as one of YouTube’s top comedy channels.

Most recently, Chanse wrote, directed, and starred in a musical adaptation of Hitch (yes, THAT Hitch), demonstrating his range as a creator and performer while selling out three consecutive nights at the Dynasty Typewriter (check out their VOD content, it's top shelf). The project reflects his signature creative voice, which is bold, satirical, and unafraid to push boundaries. With a background with the UCB (Upright Citizen's Brigade), there was never a doubt of his insane AND insanely good talent.

We can't wait to have him this fall!

And you better be nice, because he used to sleep with a katana and bo staff next to his bed, and practice seeing how fast he could jump out of bed and equip them ... Chanse'll getcha!

Elayna R. Gallea is a born and raised Canadian romantasy author (spicy). She currently lives in New Brunswick, Canada (bonjour) with her husband, two kids, two dogs, and two cats (animal lover, we adore it).

When Elayna isn't writing romantasy that will rip out your heart (the best kind, let's be honest), she's busy reading, watching Food Network (yes chef), and cooking (YES CHEF).

Guess who’s back!
Chad Michael Murray first caught our attention as Lucas Scott in the popular teen drama series One Tree Hill (2003-2012). The model-turned-actor has also serenaded Jamie Lee Curtis with Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” in Freaky Friday (2003), became Hilary Duff’s “Prince Charming” in A Cinderella Story (2004), and even watched Paris Hilton die a violent on-screen death in House of Wax (2005). More recently, Murray appeared as ambitious SSR agent Jack Thompson in the Marvel series Agent Carter (2015-2016) and of course you can watch him as Cal Jones on Sullivan’s Crossing, filmed right here in Halifax!
