Hal-Con is an annual weekend event held in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Atlantic Canada and held at the end of fall. Originally showcasing comic books, games, science fiction/fantasy and film/television, and related popular arts. It has grown to encompasses the full-spectrum of geekdom, including Comic Books, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Gaming, Cyberpunk, Steampunk, Renaissance, Anime, and anything else

of the fantastical while still having enough appeal for even the most casual fan. Dancing Bear Studios (now Dream Jar Studios!) will be bringing unique hand carved wooden bears, creatures, spoons, bookmarks, to the Medieval Market. These delightful creations will brighten up your day. Also available will be stickers, riso prints, and "Atana and the Firebird" and "Atana and the Jade Mermaid", a fantasy graphic novel duology.

We want to put a spotlight on some of the vendors coming to the Medieval Market on June 7th!

"Halifax Haidong Gumdo has been training Haligonians in the medieval Korean swords arts for over 15 years. Training balances mental discipline with physical conditioning, armed self-defence, and battlefield tactics of one versus many opponents.

Hal-Con is a proud supporter of the IWK Telethon, returning Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on CTV Atlantic.

Since the very first Hal-Con in 2010, our community has come together to help raise funds for the IWK through our annual auction during Hal-Con.

Thanks to everyone who’s helped over the years, and we have no plans to stop now!

We want to put a spotlight on some of the vendors coming to the Medieval Market on June 7th!

"The Never Ending Apothecary will be bringing plenty of their fantasy-inspired ocean soaps, including Midnight in the Shire, Dragon Smoke, and Gardens of Lórien. They will also have their hand-poured soy and beeswax candles such as Grandma’s Ghost, Storm of Opal, and Wishes from the Warlock, along with sculpted candle creations of gnomes, dragons, mushrooms, and skulls.

Their apothecary shelves will also be stocked with elixirs like Crown of Quiet and Merlin Beard Oil, alongside their beloved natural perfumes: Smoke and Magic, Falkor, and Wishes.

Did you know many of their ingredients are grown on their little farm, then carefully infused, distilled, smoked, and woven into each creation by hand? Every potion, candle, and bar carries a touch of earth, folklore, and a little bit of magic."

We’re thrilled to say that Jonathan Frakes will be joining us at Hal-Con 2026 on Saturday and Sunday!

Frakes is known around the world as Commander William Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation, but he’s more than just Number 1 (in our hearts).

His credits include Gargoyles, Adventure Time, and Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, along with directing work on series such as Leverage, Roswell, and The Librarians TV Show and two preceding TV movies.

We are ONLY 24 days away, and, somehow, there are still a few tickets left.

We’re choosing to view this as a rare opportunity for those who have had a lot going on this spring, and may have waited a BIT too long to get their tickets. Good news! There's still time!
