Durham Garba Fest 2026, hosted by Unity in Diversity on Oct. 11, filled Whitby's Abilities Centre with close to 2,000 people for what organizers described as Durham Region's largest-ever Garba celebration. The event brought together families from across Durham and the GTA for an evening of traditional Garba, Dandiya, live music and Navratri celebrations, featuring a performance by Toronto singer-songwriter Nick Pandya. During the program, Unity in Diversity presented a check for $2,001 to Lakeridge Health Foundation to support its work strengthening health care across the region. Organizer Pankaj Panchal said the festival is "not only about music and dance" but about bringing people together, celebrating culture and giving back, calling the turnout "a proud and emotional moment" for the team.

What an incredible journey these last few weeks have been! 🙏❤️

Our 𝗗𝗨𝗥𝗛𝗔𝗠 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 (𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 - 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿) received a tremendous response, and then 𝗗𝗨𝗥𝗛𝗔𝗠 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 (Whitby - Indoor) took the celebration to another level. The turnout, energy, support, and positive feedback from both events have been truly amazing.

Seeing so many families and members come together, enjoy , and leave with such positive experiences makes all the planning and hard work worthwhile.

We are extremely to everyone who attended, supported, volunteered, sponsored, partnered, performed, and helped behind the scenes to make both events possible. There are so many people involved in making an event successful, and I genuinely appreciate every contribution.

Two Fests.
Two very different venues.
Two incredible community celebrations.
And now, two big check marks. ✅✅
Feeling grateful, proud, and thankful for all the love and support. ❤️🙏
