Our Somewhere Else #2 event transformed a secret island destination last night! 🏝️

From a 22 year old local singer-songwriter wowing the crowd with a song written in 15 minutes, to a fire performance that lit up the night, and getting the dance floor moving, with one enthusiastic guest joining them with a full-on drum solo on the bain marie, the energy was unreal!

Add in air guitar battles, anonymous secrets read out loud, and a sold out crowd, and you’ve got a night the island won’t forget.

💥 Big thanks to Heath from for sound, staging and meandering around the logistical nightmare to help make the magic happen!

announcing that they are closing has hit me hard.

I was fortunate enough to meet this family at the very beginning of their journey. I watched them build something from the ground up. Not just a brewery, but a community. They supported live music. They created a genuine family friendly space. They worked hard, took risks, and poured their hearts into their dream. To see it end like this is devastating.

This news has also stirred up something extremely personal for me. I know what it feels like to have council work against you. I know what it feels like to refuse an offer that comes with strings attached; money tied to silence. I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of bullying tactics and misinformation during a campaign designed to wear you down.

The misuse of power has to stop. Terella Brewing is not the first family owned business to face this kind of pressure and they won’t be the last unless people start speaking up. So many stories get buried. So many voices are silenced. So many livelihoods are treated as collateral damage.

To those who work within councils, media and the industry, many of you are good people. Some of you are my friends. But there comes a time when morals must come before paychecks. When integrity must outweigh convenience. When staying silent makes you complicit.

When does this change? When do transparency and fairness outweigh politics and power plays? When does community actually mean something?

I’m not someone who speaks out about politics lightly. But I have never read a council related post that brought me to tears. Until this one.

To those responsible, enough is enough. You may feel protected. You may feel untouchable. But power built on silencing and intimidation never lasts. The people you overlook, the families you dismiss, the communities you underestimate, they are paying attention. And they will not forget.

It’s time for accountability. It’s time for integrity. It’s time to put community before control. Enough is enough!

Sending so much strength to the team at Terella ❤️💪

No more free access. ⚡️

This isn’t charity. This isn’t a favour. This isn’t “we’ll pay you in exposure or beers.”

Artists don’t exist for your convenience. They exist for your audience, your event, your stage. If you can’t pay them their worth, maybe it’s time to rethink your priorities. Living the high life while complaining about budgets is exploitative.

Every act on your stage brings value. It’s your privilege to have them, not the other way ‘round!

Funny thing about word of mouth, it doesn’t need a marketing budget.

Since our first edition of “Somewhere Else”, the number one thing we’ve heard is: “Why didn’t we know about it?! We would’ve come!”

And honestly? That’s the best “problem” to have.
Because now, over 50% of our second show’s sold out in 24 hours with an even bigger capacity. No big ad spend. No aggressive promo push. Just people telling people. Texts flying. Group chats lighting up. “You HAVE to come to this.”

This one’s at a secret island destination ft. Salt and Steel 🌴✨

And the wild part? We don’t even need to blast it to their followers. No algorithms. No budgets. Just vibes and word of mouth.

That’s impact! ⭐️⚡️🏝️

Songs are created by stories.

“I drink to get drunk…smoke to get stoned.”

That line came from Bruce at the Wallaby Hotel in Mudgereeba. When Dan Hannaford heard it, he said, “Sounds like a song.”

And that’s exactly what he did. Turned Bruce’s words into this incredible track.

Watch Dan perform it at our “Inside the Songhouse” session at Tamworth Country Music Festival.

(An old iPhone can capture the moment, but it doesn’t capture the magic.) 🖤
