The Canning Show is more than just an event, it's a community showcase! Whether you want to showcase your talent, your local business, help feed the crows or help us run the show, there is a place for you. After welcoming more than 11k visitors last year, we’re back and looking for the stars who make the magic happen!

We are officially seeking Expressions of Interest for:

🎤 PERFORMERS: Take the stage.
We’re looking for local schools, local bands, dance groups, magicians, and cultural performers to be part of the 2026 magic.

🍂 Autumn Planting Guide: Exhibition Edition

Thinking about entering our Canning Show Exhibition this year? The secret to those winning ribbons is actually… right now! Autumn in Perth is the perfect "second spring" to get your entries established before the winter rains.

Getting these in the ground now allows root systems to settle while the soil is still warm. Your November self will thank you!

Here’s what you should be getting in the ground this month to be Show-ready by November:
🫛Sweet Peas: It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day! Traditionally, this is the best time to plant your Sweet Peas so they are climbing high and smelling sweet by Show time.

🌹Roses: Looking to add a new bush? Plant it now. For existing roses, a light "Autumn prune" will keep them tidy, setting the stage for that spectacular first flush in November.

🦘WA Natives: Get your Kangaroo Paws and Everlastings in now so they can soak up the winter rains and reach exhibition size.

🌿Robust Herbs: Sage, Rosemary, and Lavender planted now will be lush and "bushy" enough for a display pot or bunch entry.

Spring Perennials: Snapdragons, Statice, and Foxgloves need the cooling soil now to develop those tall, sturdy spikes we love to see on the benches.

We just wrapped our second planning meeting for this year’s show, and let’s just say... the vision is BIG. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been cooking up. 🍳✨

While the official Exhibition schedule for the Canning Show is still being finalised, we can reveal our theme this year to get your creative juices flowing: "Grown in the Orchard."

We want you to be inspired by the orchard in every sense. Look closely at the colours, flavours, and textures. Explore the gnarled bark of an old tree, the split-second of falling fruit, or the buzzing life in the blossoms.

Whether through a lens, a paintbrush, or a craft, we want you to show us how you see the orchard. 🍎🎨

Ways to start preparing now:
▪ Photographers: Capture the "buzzing life" in your garden or the way the morning light hits a ripening piece of fruit.
▪ Artists & Crafters: Look at the textures of wood, leaf, and skin. How can you translate that "gnarled bark" into your next project?
▪ Cooks & Preservers: Start thinking about those signature orchard flavours—citrus, stone fruit, and berries.

The orchard is waiting! It's never too early to get inspired by nature.
