Playing around with thermoforming. Print the flat design (they have a mesh bottom) Place it in the mould and heat. Then push the top half of the mould onto it, forming the 3D piece between the 2 halves. Repeat and join the 2 pieces together. Very cool and lots of fun. Finished pic in the comments.

Unfortunately we won’t be at The Bunbury Markets this weekend, 3 October, but we will be at Dardanup Bull & Barrel Festival on 10 October and at The Bunbury Markets on 17 October.

Without the signwriters tape, these flashback burn marks would be on the surface of the wood instead, sanding takes time and effort if tape isn’t used. See the difference after the tape is peeled? Makes a big difference to the finished look on the inside of the box. The outside has the brown smoky residue to the cut edges, cause by the glue in the MDF, but I like the look, so usually leave it there, but a wipe with white vinegar will remove it too.

Studio day making more stock for the busy months ahead

I am often asked at the markets if I make everything myself. YES I do! I have some clever toys that help with the process, like laser cutters and 3D printers, but all of the files are sent to the machines by me, the sanding, the peeling of the vinyl tape used to stop the burn marks, the assembly and the gluing of all the magnets etc, all done by me. Today is a studio day doing some laser cutting and gluing to get more stock ready for a busy few months ahead.

Unfortunately the weather is not going to be the best for The Bunbury Markets this Saturday so they have been cancelled. Message if you were hoping to get something this weekend so we can make other arrangements for you.

Not an easy call. High winds make some gazebos fly and stall holders stock gets damaged. The Bunbury Markets needs to be safe for all.
