WHO WILL BE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN?

This Saturday, SnookerSA hosts the South Australian 147 Snooker State Championship, and what a field it has attracted.
The event is a fascinating clash of generations — old meets new.
Former State Snooker and 147 Champions Ray Farley, Peter Udycz, John Quinlan and Phil Reilly Jnr return to battle it out with the new wave of talent led by Premier Snooker League stars Frank Zhao, Sepehr Vaziri, Kieran McGuire, Raj Chawla and John Molnar.
Throw in Championship League contenders Danny Allen and George Han, plus 147 specialists Col Conlan and Frankie So, and you have one of the most balanced and unpredictable fields assembled at SnookerSA.
On paper, Frank Zhao enters as the man to beat. The Premier Snooker League star is the No.1 seed, was runner-up in this event last year, and his recent form has been exceptional. Consistency, scoring power and confidence make him the clear favourite.
But history says never overlook the 2nd seed, John Quinlan. One of the most successful players in format of the game, John has reached the top 3 finish in four of the last five state 147 championships, including a title victory. When the pressure rises, few competitors handle it better.

The unique 147 format guarantees excitement from the very first round. One good run can change everything. One bad frame can end a title challenge.

And don't forget the Minor State Championship. The first eight players eliminated from the main event will get a second chance at glory, ensuring every player arrives on Saturday believing they can leave with a State Title.
With pride, history and silverware on the line, SnookerSA is set for a massive day of action.
Group stages commence at 9:30am.
Finals begin at 12:45pm.

The question is... who will be King of the Mountain?

THE RACE TO THE FINALS HEATS UP!

Round 17 of the Thursday Teams League delivered plenty of drama, momentum swings and a ladder that is still far from settled heading into the final round.
SMOOTH CHALKERS STAY ON TOP
The Smooth Chalkers strengthened their grip on top spot with a solid 9-4 victory over Ball Breakers. Jayden Brady was the standout performer, scoring a crucial 3-0 win and helping his side edge closer to a minor premiership.
COMEBACK OF THE SEASON?
Pot Blacks produced one of the most remarkable turnarounds of the year against The Cue Fathers.
At the halfway mark, The Cue Fathers were cruising at 7-1 thanks largely to Allan Murphy and Gary Hazell excellentplay. Allan also produced the highest break of the night with a classy 34.
But then everything changed.
Pot Blacks stormed home, winning the remaining sessions to somehow steal a 9-7 victory from what looked like an impossible position. One of the biggest momentum swings we've seen all season.
WHAM KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE
WHAM! kept their finals hopes alive with a huge 10-5 win over Over the Hill.
Michael Kalaba was outstanding, defeating both Uncle Rick and Uncle Derek in a performance that could prove season-defining. With one round remaining, WHAM are still very much in the hunt.
TOUGH NIGHT FOR GET LUCKY
Unfortunately Shane Murphy suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury after the opening frame and was forced to withdraw from the match.
That left Kerry Weber carrying a heavy load for Get Lucky. Despite the circumstances, Kerry showed terrific character, producing a brilliant 3-0 victory over Peter Weber later in the night.
We wish Shane a speedy recovery.
DMW DEMONS SEND A MESSAGE
The defending champions delivered one of their strongest performances of the season, dismantling Double Trouble 12-3.
Adam Edwards was in devastating form with two 3-0 victories, while Rex Cole continued his consistent season. As finals approach, the Demons are beginning to look very dangerous.

ONE ROUND TO GO!

The regular season comes down to one final round and there is still plenty at stake.
The TOP 6 teams will qualify for the MAJOR FINALS SERIES and battle it out for the 2026 Thursday Teams League Championship.lm
The remaining FOUR teams will contest the PLATE SERIES, ensuring every team still has something to play for right to the very end.
Whether you're chasing a championship, fighting for a finals berth, or looking to secure Plate glory, every frame matters next week.
Top 6 into the Major Finals.
Bottom 4 into the Plate Series.
One round remaining.
Everything still to play for at SnookerSA.

TAYLOR MADE HOLD THEIR NERVE IN GRAND FINAL THRILLER

What a finish to the Tuesday Snooker League Series 1 for 2026.
After 15 rounds, semi-finals, pressure matches and black-ball drama, it all came down to one final night at SnookerSA — and the Grand Final absolutely delivered.

GRAND FINAL
Taylor Made 7 – 5 Top Enders
Unfortunately for Taylor Made, ever-present leader Guy Taylor flew overseas the day before the final, opening the door for reserve player Andrew Tieu to step into the biggest match of the season.
And what a night it became.

The match was locked at 3–3 halfway through with three black-ball frames already played. Every frame was tense, tactical and packed with pressure moments. Andrew even suffered the heartbreak of potting the final black ball only to go in-off with the cue ball — a brutal turnaround in such a massive match.
Neither side could break clear.
It all came down to the final frame with Tony Christopher needing to win the frame to win the match for the Top Enders. Once again, another black-ball decider.
Tony coolly potted the black… but disaster struck as the cue ball travelled around the table and dropped into the pocket.
An unbelievable twist.

That shifted the match into Taylor Made’s favour heading into the black-ball shootout, As now Tony needs to win the shoot out to tie the match and force a deciding frame.

Tony responded brilliantly, winning the opening shootout black ball to keep hopes alive, but then Steve Harris stepped up under immense pressure and produced two outstanding black-ball pots to secure the title for Taylor Made.
A massive week for Steve Harris, who backed up last Friday’s 6Red900 victory with the ultimate prize — Tuesday Night League champions.
Congratulations to Steve Harris & Andrew Tieu
2026 Tuesday Snooker League Champions.

PLAY-OFF
Pair of Aces 11 – 4 Tail Lights

Unfortunately for the defending champions Tail Lights, finals campain turned into a frustrating chapter.
After dominating much of the regular season and finishing on top of the ladder, nothing seemed to go right during the finals series. Once again, the scoreline looked one-sided, but several close frames and black-ball losses proved costly.
Pair of Aces capitalised brilliantly and never let the pressure off.
A strong finish to their campaign and a deserved third-place result.
But knowing Tail Lights, they’ll regroup, reset and come back hard next season.

Congratulations to all teams who competed in Series 1.
Fantastic standard, great sportsmanship and a brilliant atmosphere throughout the season.

And the good news?

SERIES 2 STARTS SOON

There is still room for a couple more teams to join the league.

If you’re interested in playing, Contact SnookerSA to register your team.

All standards welcome.
Be part of the action at SnookerSA.

The Major Finals might grab the headlines…
But don’t underestimate the Plate Finals.
There is still pride, pressure, rivalry and silverware on the line — and every player remaining is now fighting for a place in a Grand Final.
RAJ CHAWLA v JOHN MOLNAR

This one is personal.
Raj threw everything at the final round and refused to surrender his finals dream. A gutsy 4-3 win over Sepehr VaZiri showed exactly why he remained in the hunt right until the very end.
John Molnar, meanwhile, has quietly stayed in the fight all season. Calm, composed and dangerous when he gets momentum, John now has a chance to reset and make a genuine run through the Plate Finals.
And remember…
The winner goes straight into the Plate Grand Final.
One match away from silverware.

SEPEHR VaZIRI v MICKEY SINGH

This could be chaos.
Seppi produced one of the comebacks of the season coming from 3-0 down against Peter Darby to win 4-3. When his confidence rises, he becomes one of the most explosive players in the league.
But Mickey Singh now enters with belief.
After a tough season, Mickey stunned Kieran McGuire in the final round and proved he can still hurt anybody in this competition. Two wins this season… both against finals players. That makes him dangerous.
For these players, this is not “just the minor finals.”
This is finals snooker.

And for one player… a pathway to a Grand Final still remains alive.
Because once finals begin… reputations mean nothing.

PREMIER LEAGUE SNOOKER – MAJOR FINALS

The regular season is over.
The pressure starts now.
Four players remain in the hunt for the inaugural PSL Major title… and every one of them has a story.

FRANK ZHAO v KIERAN McGUIRE

The blockbuster.

The king of the ladder against the man who handed him his only defeat of the season.
Frank Zhao has been the benchmark all year. Heavy scoring, ruthless matchplay and the ability to punish mistakes better than anybody in the league. Even when challengers closed in, Frank responded like champions do.
But Kieran McGuire has become the danger man of the competition.
Cool under pressure, fearless in the big moments, and fresh off one of the wins of the season against Frank himself. When Kieran settles into rhythm, he becomes incredibly difficult to stop.

This one has genuine main event feel.
Winner straight into the Grand Final. Loser gets one more life.

SWENSON SU v PETER DARBY

Youth vs experience.
Precision vs composure.
Swenson Su quietly built one of the strongest seasons in the league. Frame after frame he kept delivering, proving he belongs amongst the top players in the competition. When settled, Swenson’s cue ball control and tactical discipline can dismantle anybody.
But standing opposite him is “The Great Man.”
Peter Darby has seen it all before.
The veteran fought through pressure, drama and one of the toughest finishes to the season to claim his finals spot. Big breaks, big moments and decades of experience now become dangerous weapons in finals snooker.

And finals pressure changes everything.
One player moves within one win of the Grand Final.
One player drops into the danger zone.

The regular season was the audition.

Now the real show begins. 🔥
