A strong first half-year 🔥

The Austria Center Vienna looks back on a very strong first half-year. Between January and June, 43 events with 92,752 participants continued the positive development in the two strategic core segments: international congresses and corporate events.

The consistent focus on international congresses and high-quality corporate events is proving to be a key success factor. Both segments strengthen Vienna’s international visibility and generate important economic impulses for Vienna and Austria.

„Strong demand confirms our strategic course. International congresses and corporate events bring value creation, knowledge and international networks to Vienna. The Austria Center Vienna thereby makes an important contribution to the competitiveness and appeal of the location,“ says Mag. Dr. Susanne Baumann-Söllner.

After an intensive first half-year, the calendar remains densely booked through to the end of the year, with international congresses, corporate events and national large-scale events on the programme, followed by the traditional December Christmas party season.

The U1 station Kaisermühlen VIC is a few minutes’ walk from the entrance. 🚆 Stephansplatz in 7 minutes, the airport in about half an hour. No shuttle fleet, no parking plan for 5,000 people at once.

Let me guess. You clicked because at least one of these hit home.

Every planner we talk to carries the same list: too many delegates for too little floor, a board that wants sustainability in writing, a keynote with a tight landing slot, and the eternal hotel-distance question.

Here’s the honest version of our answer. 22,800 capacity across six levels. A U1 metro stop inside the building, eight to ten minutes to the city centre, 35 minutes from the airport. For U.S. East Coast organizers this changes the math on a European congress: no layover, no lost day, no jet-lagged speakers arriving the night before.
And three weeks after the first flight lands, our first open 2027 window opens too: 31 May to 4 June. Halls A, B and C, 4,370 seats combined, with special conditions for early commitments.

As of 1 September, Mag. Dr. Susanne Baumann-Söllner assumes sole leadership of IAKW-AG, the company behind the Austria Center Vienna and the Vienna International Centre.

Alongside the congress and event business of the Austria Center Vienna, building and property management as well as the administration of the Vienna International Centre now fall within her remit.

“Together with our team we will continue the successful path of recent years, invest in a targeted way in modernising our infrastructure and develop both centres consistently further,” says Susanne Baumann-Söllner.

A congress centre is usually described by its architecture. 24 halls, 180 meeting rooms, 22,800 seats.

None of that organises itself. 💛

Behind every event here is a team that negotiates the contract, plans the technical setup, rebuilds a hall overnight, and answers the question an organiser asks three days before doors open. Sales, event management, technical services, communications, finance.

The women in this photo hold several of those roles. They are part of a larger team, and they are the reason a congress feels effortless from the outside.
