“In this short time, I have learned things I did not encounter in school,” he said. “I learned how to get out of my head and trust my body to tell a story. I also learned to be aware of my space and to work effectively within a very limited time.”
These humbling reflections are shared by Gareth Ntugwerisho, a recent performing arts graduate, following his participation in a physical theatre workshop, led by our director Lloyd Nyikadzino.
Under the invitation of Aganza Kisaka, President of ITI Uganda, and with support from The Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics , Lloyd Nyikadzino had the opportunity earlier this month to work with emerging theatre practitioners in Uganda. Grounded in mentorship, processes, and collaborative systems, this engagement has culminated in the creation of a piece that the participants will now present.
