We’re gathering voice notes for a new audio story rooted in real experiences, real people and the things we don’t always get space to say out loud.

BIG NEWS! 📢

As we approach our 20th anniversary next year, Magamba continues to grow across Africa.

Today, we're announcing one of the biggest changes in our history: the launch of our Magamba Africa Hub in Gaborone, Botswana.

This marks the evolution of Magamba into a truly continent-wide network. Going forward, all of Magamba's Africa-wide programmes and partnerships will be coordinated from Botswana, while our Zimbabwe operations will be rebranded as Magamba ZW: our local organization focused on nationwide arts, culture and digital programming.

Zimbabwe remains the beating heart of the network, our creative hub and content hub. Botswana becomes our Africa-facing civic hub, connecting movements, creatives and changemakers across the continent.

The mothership is now Magamba Network, headquartered in Botswana, bringing together a growing family that includes Magamba ZW, our Zimbabwe Private Voluntary Organization, StudiomotoZw, our audiovisual social enterprise, and Magamba Media, our independent media house.

From Harare to Gaborone. From local impact to continental reach.

The network continues to grow.

Something powerful is coming to RightsCon 2026…

Through Moto Labs, we are bringing our Rural Digital Kiosk to Zambia, a practical step toward addressing digital exclusion across our communities.

This kiosk is designed in response to challenges many of us are familiar with: rising data costs, limited connectivity, internet shutdowns, and shrinking civic space. It’s an attempt to explore what locally grounded, African-led digital infrastructure can look like.

At RightsCon, the kiosk will feature across two major spaces: the official session “Community-led civic tech for digital accountability in Southern Africa” and our satellite side event “Reclaiming the Digital Commons for Africa: Platform Accountability, Digital Authoritarianism & the Future of Independent African Infrastructure.”
