GOVERNMENT ISSUES ARTISANAL MINING OFFER LETTERS TO MUFUMBWE AND KASEMPA COOPERATIVES.
Mufumbwe ,North Western Province - Government through the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development, has issued over 90 Artisanal Mining Offer letters to Cooperatives in Kasempa and Mufumbwe districts. This initiative aims to empower local communities to participate in and benefit from the mineral resources in North Western Province.
The Offer letters have been issued to local cooperatives as part of the Government's efforts to promote community involvement in mining activities. The benefiting cooperatives will undergo intensive training designed to equip them with essential skills for secure and safe mining activities as directed by Mr President Hakainde Hichilema.
Upon successful completion of the training, the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development will grant licenses to the cooperatives. Additionally, the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development will provide support to the cooperatives with mining equipments.
To ensure transparency and traceability in the trade of gold, ZCCM-IH Holdings has been engaged to facilitate mechanisms for buying gold from Kasempa and Mufumbwe districts.
Government under the leadership of Mr President Hakainde Hichilema's will continue to promote responsible and safe mining practices.
The handover ceremony was graced by Minister of Mines and Mineral Development, Hon Paul Kabuswe MPand North Western Provincial Minister Hon. Robert Lihefu MP. Other dignitaries present included Permanent Secretaries from the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development Dr Hapenga Kabeta, Cabinet Office Special Duties, Ms. Naomi Tetamashimba, Mr Hilton Chibeleka and Permanent Secretary for Small and Medium Enterprise Development Ms Subeta Mutelo. Also in attendance were Mufumbwe MP Hon Kamondo,North Western Province DPS Mr Luckson Mulumbi and various Stakeholders.
