The Mpongwe Agricultural Expo

The Mpongwe Agricultural Expo The Mpongwe Agricultural Expo serves as a unique district-level platform that connects small- and medium-scale farmers to markets, knowledge, and finance.

Mpongwe Agricultural Expo 2026 is a premier agricultural and trade platform in the Lobito Corridor growth region, connecting farmers, agribusinesses and innovators to climate-smart solutions, expanded markets and year-round community visibility. Through partnerships with chiefs, government ministries, and private-sector players, the Expo hopes to transform how farmers access resources, adopt innov

ation, and engage in structured trading via ZAMACE. As the Expo evolves into the Mpongwe Agriculture Hub, it will serve as a year-round center for training, aggregation, and collaboration—helping farmers grow beyond subsistence into sustainability and profitability. Achievements & Impacts so far as we align with the live document of the MPONGWE-INTEGRATED-DEVELOPMENT-PLAN 2023-2033. Since its inception in 2023, the Mpongwe Agricultural Expo has demonstrated measurable impact.

- In 2023, Public Service Microfinance Company (PSMFC) leveraged the Expo to register local vendors as preferred agro-suppliers for government loan beneficiaries.

- In 2024, One Acre Fund was introduced to local traditional leaders through the Expo and has since established full operations in Mpongwe District.

- In 2025, Mash-Ink Investments successfully managed the 62nd North-Western Provincial Agriculture, Industrial, Mining & Commercial Show in Solwezi — a milestone proving our capacity to deliver large-scale, multi-sectoral events. These achievements reflect our belief that true development happens when local initiatives meet strategic partnerships.

Effective w**d killing using herbicides requires selecting the right product (selective vs. non-selective), proper application timing (dry, calm days), and using personal protective equipment.

Systemic herbicides are best for long-term control by killing roots, while pre-emergence products prevent seeds from growing. Key techniques include mixing accurately, spraying foliage completely, and applying while w**ds are young.

Key Herbicide Types & Usage
- Systemic Herbicides: These travel through the plant to the roots, ideal for killing tough w**ds permanently.
- Contact Herbicides: These kill only the parts of the plant they touch, providing rapid results but often missing the roots.
- Selective Herbicides: These kill specific w**ds without damaging surrounding grass or desirable plants.
- Non-selective Herbicides: These kill any green plant matter and are used for clearing entirely new areas, like driveways or empty beds.
- Pre-emergence Herbicides: These are applied to the soil before w**d seedlings emerge to prevent growth.

Application Techniques
- Preparation: Mix concentrate herbicides with water in a dedicated sprayer, following the manufacturer’s dosage instructions carefully.

- Safety First: Wear gloves, masks, face shields, and boots to avoid contact with toxic chemicals.

- Optimal Conditions: Choose a calm, sunny, dry day. Avoid spraying if rain is expected within 6–24 hours, as this will wash away the product.

- Application: Spray to coat all foliage, but avoid excessive runoff.

- Timing: Spray during active growth; some experts suggest spraying younger plants for better efficiency.

Which Herbicide did you use in the 2025/2026 farming season and how would you rate it from 1 to 5, where 1 & 2 is poor, 3 is fair, 4 & 5 Effective.
