STATEMENT BY SENIOR CHIEF MONZE ON THE MOURNING OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS CHIEF MPEZENI

Senior Chief Moonze of the Tonga Speaking people in Monze has joined calls for the nation to mourn the passing of His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV with peace, unity, and dignity befitting a revered traditional leader.

The Senior Chief described his Majesty Paramount Chief Mpezeni as a custodian of culture, a symbol of traditional leadership, and a respected voice who dedicated his life to serving his people and promoting harmony among communities.

“As we come to terms with this great loss, I urge all Zambians to mourn with respect and dignity. Let us honour the life and legacy of Paramount Chief Mpezeni by maintaining peace, showing compassion to the bereaved family, and supporting one another during this difficult period,” said Senior Chief Moonze.

He further called on traditional leaders, community members, and the nation at large to set aside differences and unite in remembrance of a leader whose contribution transcended tribal and regional boundaries.

Senior Chief Moonze conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Ngoni Royal Establishment, the Ngoni people, the bereaved family, and all those affected by the loss.

“May the memories of his leadership, wisdom, and service continue to inspire future generations. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

UPND Chawama aspiring candidate Morgan Muunda has commended the government for the early distribution of farming inputs to farmers in the country.

Mr Muunda said the early distribution of farming inputs is a positive development to farmers and the country at large as it will help in mitigating climate change effects.

“We want to commend the government regarding the corrective measures it has taken over the early distribution of farming inputs looking at the background we are coming from where farmers were receiving inputs as late as February which defeats the purpose of the distributions,” he said.

He stated that the distribution will help farmers plan in time and therefore mitigate climate change effects on the agriculture sector in the country.

“What we want to see is farmers in all rural areas receive their farming inputs in time. When farmers receive their farming inputs on time it is easier for them to plan and grow their crops,” he said.

He added that farmers should take advantage of the distribution by planning and working on their farms.

Mr Muunda advised farmers not to stray away from their farming activities such as smart agriculture, agro forestry and other climate mitigative measures.

“We would like to see positive improvements amongst farmers, we want to see farmers respond positively by implementing smart agriculture in the sense of agro forestry so that we mitigate climate change,” he said.
