LWIINDI GONDE ORGANISING COMMITTEE EXPRESSES GRATITUDE FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE 2026 CEREMONY

The Lwiindi Gonde Traditional Ceremony Organising Committee wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Zambia, cooperating partners, sponsors, traditional leaders, the business community, the media, security wings, volunteers and the general public for their invaluable support towards the successful hosting of the 2026 Lwiindi Gonde Traditional Ceremony.

This year's ceremony was a remarkable success, made possible through the collective efforts, commitment and generosity of all stakeholders who contributed both financially and materially to ensure that the event was conducted in a peaceful, orderly and dignified manner.

We are particularly grateful to the Government for the continued support rendered towards preserving and promoting Zambia's rich cultural heritage. Your partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to safeguarding our traditions and passing them on to future generations.

HRH CHIEF MOONZE SUCCESSFULLY MAKES PILGRIMAGE TO THE LWIINDI GONDE CEREMONY ARENA

His Royal Highness Chief Moonze has today successfully completed the traditional pilgrimage to the Lwiindi Gonde Ceremony Arena, marking another significant milestone ahead of the Official Day of this year's Lwiindi Gonde Traditional Ceremony, scheduled for Monday, 6 July 2026.

The successful pilgrimage symbolizes the spiritual and cultural preparations leading to the climax of one of the Tonga people's most treasured traditional ceremonies. It reflects the unwavering commitment to preserving the rich customs, values and heritage that have been passed down through generations.

The Royal Establishment expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the thousands of subjects, traditional leaders, government officials, cooperating partners and members of the public who accompanied and supported His Royal Highness during the pilgrimage. Their peaceful participation and respect for tradition continue to demonstrate the unity and cultural pride of the Tonga people.

As preparations for the Official Day enter their final stage, the Royal Establishment calls upon all attendees to continue conducting themselves peacefully, respecting the sanctity of the ceremony and working together to ensure a successful and memorable Lwiindi Gonde Traditional Ceremony.

One YeYe international, our Ambassador has officially started his cycling journey to Monze in support of the Lwiindi Gonde Traditional Ceremoney starting this Friday 3 July to Tuesday 7 July 2026.

Our member of the Organising committee Khadija Muleya Namanza flagged off this journey this afternoon in Lusaka.

CHIEF MOONZE SAYS ALL SET FOR LWIINDI GONDE CEREMONY

Chief Moonze of Monze District in Southern Province says all preparations have been completed for this year's Lwiindi Gonde Traditional Ceremony scheduled to take place from 3rd to 7th July 2026.

Speaking in an interview with Chikuni Radio News Chief Moonze said the ceremony is expected to attract thousands of people from different parts of the country and beyond, who will gather to celebrate Tonga culture and traditions.

The traditional leader has since urged all attendees to conduct themselves in a peaceful and respectful manner throughout the event.

He emphasized the need for discipline, unity, and respect for cultural values to ensure a successful ceremony.

Chief Moonze further called on visitors to cooperate with security personnel and organizers by following all guidelines that will be put in place during the celebrations.

The Lwiindi Gonde Ceremony, is a thanksgiving tradition by the Tonga-speaking people of Southern Province, during which ancestral spirits are honoured and blessings for rain and harvest are sought.

STATEMENT BY SENIOR CHIEF MONZE ON THE MOURNING OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS CHIEF MPEZENI

Senior Chief Moonze of the Tonga Speaking people in Monze has joined calls for the nation to mourn the passing of His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV with peace, unity, and dignity befitting a revered traditional leader.

The Senior Chief described his Majesty Paramount Chief Mpezeni as a custodian of culture, a symbol of traditional leadership, and a respected voice who dedicated his life to serving his people and promoting harmony among communities.

“As we come to terms with this great loss, I urge all Zambians to mourn with respect and dignity. Let us honour the life and legacy of Paramount Chief Mpezeni by maintaining peace, showing compassion to the bereaved family, and supporting one another during this difficult period,” said Senior Chief Moonze.

He further called on traditional leaders, community members, and the nation at large to set aside differences and unite in remembrance of a leader whose contribution transcended tribal and regional boundaries.

Senior Chief Moonze conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Ngoni Royal Establishment, the Ngoni people, the bereaved family, and all those affected by the loss.

“May the memories of his leadership, wisdom, and service continue to inspire future generations. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
