It was a day that began with excitement and expectation.
My bags were packed. My passport was stamped. I was ready to travel ... ready for a new journey.
Then the phone rang.
I was told to cancel my trip and head to Lusaka immediately. Call after call came in .. friends, family ...yet no one would tell me why. The silence carried a weight my heart could already feel.
I canceled everything.
I drove to Lusaka with Mr. Alex Chiwama. When we arrived, his young brother welcomed us so warmly. Sweet Saul ... such a kind soul. May his soul continue to rest in peace.
He spoke to me gently, trying to prepare my heart.
“Some things in life have no university,” he said. “You just have to be strong. You are a man.”
Then he told me.
“Your brother has been involved in a terrible accident. We are going to see him.”
In that moment, my world changed.
At UTH, my mother asked everyone to step out of the ICU room She called me to pray with my brother. I had never seen Marvin like that. His head was swollen. He looked so fragile.
I prayed.
I begged God to save him.
Then I walked out, holding onto hope with trembling hands.
Mr. Chiwama and I had barely gone far when another call came.
Marvin had gone to be with the Lord.
Just like that.
Sleep on, my brother. Sleep in heavenly peace.
It has been eleven years… yet it still feels like yesterday. 🤍
