Remembering Brenda Fassie, the Queen of African Pop whose music still lives on.

Brenda was born in Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦 in 1964, where she was raised by her mother after her father passed away when she was two. At a tender age, she started earning money by singing to tourists, while her mother, a pianist, played alongside. Brenda climbed her way to the top, beginning as the lead singer in a group called “Brenda and The Big Dudes”, and eventually branching off as a solo artist.

Brenda became well known for her “outrageousness” on stage and was sometimes referred to as the “Black Madonna”. Some of her greatest hits include “Vuli Ndlela”, “Black President”, “Nomakanjani?”, “I’m sorry Mama” and more. Most of her albums went on to become multi-platinum sellers in South Africa.

She died in 2004 at the age of 39 after losing consciousness at a hospital in South Africa.

Despite all the controversies surrounding her personal life, Brenda was a trailblazer in the African music industry. She was a musical genius who constantly reinvented herself and always gave fans around the world something special to look forward to. More importantly, she was a revolutionary who lent her voice to important social issues in her country and went on to inspire many people. Her impact on African music is undeniable and her work will continue to impact generations for years to come.

HICHILEMA RUNNING THE COUNTRY LIKE MOBUTU

This morning we featured on Hot FM Radio and engaged the public on a wide range of issues regarding the governance of this country and its consequences on the Zambian people.

We discussed a number of issues and prominent among them being the topical criminal incident involving gold that recently occurred at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) and prompted a haphazard press conference from State House by Mr Hakainde Hichilema upon his return from Angola.

We described the gold incident as a leadership scandal, which has exposed the underlying defects of Mr Hichilema’s leadership. We also highlighted the crookedness and high- level corruption that is currently obtaining in the running of the country today and how we warned before about illicit gold dealings, which were taking place in the country.

We categorically stated that Mr Hichilema was running the country like the late Mobutu Seseko - the former Zaire and now Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) corrupt, authoritarian and imperialist puppet leader. We emphasized how illicit gold deals have been going on under this regime for a long time now and how the recent KKIA incident was just a tip of the iceberg that had caught up with Mr Hichilema and his leadership.

We further dismissed the pledges by Mr Hichilema that the KKIA gold scandal will be handled independently and culprits brought to book because we find him compromised and ill- suited to make such guarantees, especially that currently, the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) and other law enforcement agencies, report directly to State House.

On the ongoing BRICS summit in South Africa, we took time to explain what BRICS was and its global significance as grouping and why Zambia’s full participation and commitment was cardinal, and beneficial to the country and the people.

Even if Harry Kalaba is guilt that guy has no power to treat him that way and this habit of tolerating and praising foreigners who comes in our country to disrespect our leaders. Can a Zambian go to Zimbabwe and behave in that manner? Imagine that guy thinks this is Zimbabwe eco Mnangagwa abafyantila kumabol.
We have allowed foreigners such as Prophet Seer1 to be insulting senior offices. In Nigeria they have a president who can't even stand for a minute ninshi napona and I've never heard any Zambian citizen to comment on him.

I WANT TO BE A MINISTER OF RECONCILIATION FOR ONE ZAMBIA - ONE NATION IN THE NEXT GOVT OF EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU

There was an overwhelming response of affirmation, on my 20:00hrs Direct Talk program, last night, that President Lungu should come back in 2026. I went to sleep thinking about this and saw it happening in 2026 if not earlier.

It is clear President Hakainde Hichilema has failed to change the lives of Zambians for the better, as promised, rather, he has made things worse, and therefore he is certainly going to be voted out in 2026.

This morning I woke up thinking of how President Hichilema has been so ruthless to some of us, including to President Edgar Lungu and his family. I imagined, how many people would want to avenge for the injustices.

But when I went to Church, Fr. Moses Zwanyika, Parish Priest of Roma Parish, spoke strongly about being different from those who persecute us.

Giving a homily, reflecting on Matthew 10:16-23 which reads;

"Jesus said to his Apostles:
"Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves;
so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.
But beware of men,
for they will hand you over to courts
and scourge you in their synagogues,
and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake
as a witness before them and the pagans.
When they hand you over,
do not worry about how you are to speak
or what you are to say.
You will be given at that moment what you are to say.
For it will not be you who speak
but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Brother will hand over brother to death,
and the father his child;
children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
