HURRY THE CROWN STAYS WHERE IT IS
On this page I have a favorite and he remains GM DING LIREN
No one should say otherwise.
Ding is a patient man. I will keep loving him for that.

Ding Liren took the lead in the FIDE Chess Championship Match 2024 by defeating D Gukesh in Game 1. Ding, playing with black pieces, employed the French defense to reverse the pressure and secure a comprehensive win

The game started with a fast and furious pace, with Gukesh taking an hour's lead over Ding. However, Ding made quick counterattacking moves, leading with his queen and throwing Gukesh off his game

As the game progressed, Ding piled pressure on Gukesh's opening, expecially after move10. g4 threatening the diagonal with queen a5.
Gukesh went defensive, but Ding continued to hammer pressure on the position bringing knight and rook
The middle game held gukesh to a brainstorm he tried move 21. f5

With time pressure mounting, Gukesh was forced to make quick moves, ultimately putting him in a compromised position

Ding took his time to turn the screws, finishing the game, Gukesh offered his hand in defeat.
The match continues with Game 2, and Ding currently leads 1-0.
Ding's French paid off.
