Owned and operated by the Green family for almost 20 years, the Standard Bank Berg & Bush is a mountain bike stage race that takes place from Em’seni Race Village on the banks of the Tugela River near Winterton in KwaZulu-Natal. Riders have the option of entering two separate and distinctly unique events - the three-day Berg & Bush Descent or the original 2-Day. The Descent starts at Windmill Farm
on top of Oliviershoek Pass in the Free State, with the route making its way along the Escarpment before dropping into KwaZulu-Natal on some of the most beautiful twisting and turning trails in South Africa. The original 2-Day comprises days two and three of the Descent and features a mix of riding across farms, on singletrack, up switchbacks and through bushveld. The Drakensberg scenery only adds to the thrill of both events. Highlights include fun, free-flowing trails, ideal riding conditions and a race village that invites riders to relax and unwind after a day on the trails.
