β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAY 101 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

What’s Something You Wish Adults Understood About Young People?

Today, I want to change things up a little.

Instead of me doing all the talking, I want to give our young people the microphone. 🎀❀️

There is so much adults assume about young people.

We say things like:

β€œWhen I was your age…”

β€œYou don't understand yet…”

β€œYou'll understand when you're older…”

But what if, just for today, we stopped comparing their world to the one we grew up in and simply asked:

β€œTell me what I don't understand.”

Maybe there's something about friendships, school, social media, family, pressure, dreams, relationships, or simply growing up that adults don't always see from their side.

Young people, this is your opportunity to tell us.

And adults, let's not immediately correct, judge or give advice.

Let's listen first.

To the young people reading this: you don't have to write what you think adults want to hear. Tell us honestly.

And to every parent, grandparent, teacher, aunt, uncle or adult reading this, please share today's Tea Moment with the young people in your life.

I would love to see our youth start engaging with these Tea Moments, because sometimes the best conversation begins when we stop talking and start listening.

β˜•β€οΈ Today's question belongs to you:

What's something you wish adults understood about young people?

I'm listening. πŸ‘‘β˜•πŸ€

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAY 100 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

When a Heart Has Too Much to Carry

Some days you wake up and life feels completely different from when you went to sleep.

Today is one of those days.

The past few weeks have been heavy. There have been hospital visits, difficult conversations, uncertainty, and moments where you don't really know what tomorrow will bring.

And today, we lost someone we love. 😭🀍

My heart is broken.

When you're grieving, sometimes there is nothing you can say that makes the pain disappear. You don't need to have the right words. You don't need to pretend you're okay.

Sometimes you just need to allow yourself to feel.

Today I'm thinking about how precious life really is.

We don't always know when a conversation will be the last one, when a visit will become a memory, or when an ordinary moment will become something we wish we could experience again.

So while we are here, while we still have each other, love your people. Make the memories. Be there when you can.

And today, I am especially grateful for my sister-in-law, who has become more like a sister to me. 🀍

Through these difficult weeks, you stood beside me and beside our uncle. We did what we could, we were there, and we walked through those moments together.

Sometimes love isn't about having the right words.

Sometimes love is simply showing up.

Today I don't have all the answers.

I just have a heart that is hurting, memories that I will carry with me, and gratitude for the people who walked beside us.

β˜• Today's tea question:

If you could sit with someone you love today, what would you want them to know?

Don't wait for the perfect moment.

Sometimes the moment we have is the moment we should treasure. 🀍

🎀✨ MEET OUR NEXT ARTIST β€” DARREN WITBOOI βœ¨πŸŽ„

I’m excited to introduce Darren Witbooi, one of the voices joining us at our Christmas Carols Picnic ❀️

Darren is an educator by profession, a lover of the Lord, and someone who strives to live authentically and spread kindness wherever he goes.
His singing journey began as a child in the junior church choir, while his solo journey started rather unexpectedly. At just 13 years old, he suddenly announced at the dinner table:
β€œI'm gonna sing at your wedding.” πŸ˜‚πŸŽ€

And for someone who was so shy, this surprised everyone, including himself 🀣
For Darren, music is much more than singing. It is a gift from God that brings peace in chaos, comfort, grounding and a sense of belonging.

Before he sings, he prays that the Holy Spirit will use his voice to bless, touch, move or comfort someone 🩷

But something Darren shared really touched me personally. He said that although he hasn't known me very long, he feels a special connection to me and my family. ❀️ He shared that when he heard the story and inspiration behind the Christmas Carols Picnic, being part of it became even more special to him.

And when it comes to our theme RESTORED, his words are so powerful:
β€œGod is here to say to all of us... I will RESTORE to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.” β€” Joel 2:25 ✨
I’m so grateful to have Darren be part of this journey and to share the gift God has given him.

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAY 99 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

Your Voice Matters, Even When You’re the Youngest in the Room

Can we have a real conversation today?

Sometimes when you're young, people can make you feel like your opinion doesn't count simply because of your age.

You speak, and someone says, β€œYou're still young, you don't understand.”

You have an idea, but nobody really listens.

You have something on your heart, but you're afraid to say it because you don't want people to laugh at you or tell you that you don't know enough.

But being young doesn't mean you have nothing valuable to say.

You might not know everything, and that's okay. None of us do.

You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to have an opinion.
You are allowed to dream.
You are allowed to respectfully disagree.

And young people, remember this too: having a voice doesn't mean you have to be the loudest person in the room.

Sometimes your voice is simply speaking when you know something needs to be said.

And sometimes your voice is using your words to encourage someone else who is struggling to find theirs.

God can use your voice at any age.

So don't shrink yourself because you're the youngest.

And don't be afraid to use your voice in a way that brings light, kindness and courage.

Your age may be part of your story, but it does not determine the value of your voice. 🀍

β˜• Today's Tea Question:

If you knew nobody would judge you, what would you have the courage to say?

Maybe someone needs to hear your voice today. β˜•πŸ€

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAY 98 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

The Older You Get, The More You Understand…

The older you get, the more you understand.

Not because you suddenly have all the answers, but because life has a way of showing you things you couldn't see before.

Sometimes we look back and think, β€œWhy did it take me so long to realise that?”

But maybe it wasn't too late.

Maybe you simply needed to experience certain things before they could make sense.

At 43, I have realised things I didn't understand when I was younger. Things I once looked at completely differently. And I have learned that there is no set age for understanding life.

Some people realise things in their twenties.

Some in their thirties.

Some much later.

And that's okay.

Everyone has their own journey, and not everyone's path is the same.

God doesn't write every story the same way.

Some lessons come through experience.
Some come through mistakes.
Some come through people.
And some things only become clear when God changes something inside of you.

So don't look at your life and think you've realised something too late.

Don't compare your understanding with someone else's.

You are walking your journey.

And maybe the thing you understand today is something you simply weren't ready to understand yesterday.

β˜• Today's tea question:

What is something you understand today that you didn't understand a few years ago?

Sometimes looking back isn't about regret.

Sometimes it's about realising just how much you've grown in your understanding.

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAYS 96 & 97 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

When Life Doesn’t Give You Ideal Conditions

Okay… these past two days? πŸ˜…

Let's just say I've had enough time to discover exactly how long a phone battery can survive when you're desperately trying to make it last! πŸ˜‚

No electricity, searching for places where I could charge my phone, moving things around, waiting, checking the battery… and thinking, β€œSeriously? Now?” πŸ˜…

But you know what?

Sometimes life is just like that.

Not every day is going to cooperate with our plans.

Sometimes the timing is terrible.
Sometimes everything feels inconvenient.
Sometimes you're simply tired of having to figure things out.

And I think that's when we need to give ourselves permission to say:

β€œToday is a mess… and that's okay.”

We don't have to turn every frustrating day into a life lesson.

We don't have to pretend we're positive every second.

Sometimes we can be frustrated, laugh about the ridiculousness of it all, take a breath and carry on when we're ready.

Because tomorrow doesn't have to look like today.

And honestly, after two crazy days, I'm just grateful that I managed to get my Tea Moment out before this phone finally gives up on me! πŸ˜‚πŸ”‹β˜•

So here's today's reminder:

Not every day needs to go according to plan. Sometimes you just need to laugh at the chaos and remember that tomorrow is another day. 🀍

β˜• Today's tea question:

When life throws your plans completely off track, can you find something to laugh about?

Sometimes a little laughter is exactly what the heart needs. 🀍

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAY 95 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

The Version of You Nobody Gets to See

There is a version of you that most people will never really know.

The one who laughs at the silliest things.

The one who has dreams you don't always talk about.

The one who has thoughts you keep to yourself.

The one who can be completely different when you're around the people who make you feel comfortable enough to just be yourself.

We all have that side of us.

And sometimes, somewhere along the way, we become so used to being what everyone expects that we forget about the person underneath it all.

The things you loved as a child.

The dreams you once had.

The little things that make you smile for no particular reason.

The parts of your personality you don't always get to show.

Maybe that version of you hasn't disappeared.

Maybe it is simply waiting for you to make room for it again.

You don't have to show that side of yourself to everyone.

But you also don't have to hide it just to fit into someone else's idea of who you should be.

There is something beautiful about being able to say, β€œThis is me,” without needing to change it for anyone.

So today, take a moment to remember the parts of yourself that make you you.

The dreams.
The laughter.
The weird little habits.
The things you're passionate about.
The things that make your heart happy.

Don't lose those parts of yourself while trying to keep up with life.

β˜• Today's tea question:

What is one part of the real you that you wish you made more room for?

Maybe it's time to let that part breathe again. 🀍

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAYS 93 & 94 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

Build Your Children Up, Don’t Build Walls Around Them

There is something very powerful about the way a parent speaks to a child.

Children are constantly becoming.

They are discovering who they are, what they are capable of, what they love, and what they want their future to look like.

And during that process, they need someone who will remind them:

β€œYou can do this.”

Not every child will follow the same path.

Not every child will have the same strengths.

Not every child will achieve things at the same time.

And that's okay.

Parents shouldn't make their children feel as though they have to compete for love, attention or approval.

Every child deserves to feel equally valued.

Sometimes a child doesn't need another correction.

Sometimes they need encouragement.

Sometimes they don't need to hear what they're doing wrong.

Sometimes they need someone to notice what they're doing right.

Our words can become part of the voice a child carries inside their head for years.

We can use those words to build confidence, courage and hope.

Or we can unknowingly create walls that make a child doubt themselves.

And supporting a child's dreams doesn't mean agreeing with everything they do.

It means allowing them to dream.

It means guiding them without crushing their confidence.

It means correcting them without making them feel like a failure.

It means loving them without comparison.

Build them. Encourage them. Guide them. But never make them feel small for becoming who they were created to be.

Because one day our children will step into the world without us beside them every moment.

Let's make sure they leave home carrying confidence, not the weight of constantly wondering whether they were ever good enough.

β˜• Today's tea question:

When your children think about the way you raised them one day, what do you hope they remember about how you made them feel?

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAY 92 β€” YESTERDAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

What Happens When You Feel Invisible?

Yesterday was a day when I honestly didn't feel like doing my Tea Moment.

Sometimes our hearts get tired.

Sometimes something happens and it touches a place inside us that has been hurting for a long time.

You can be surrounded by people and still feel alone.

You can be part of someone's life and still wonder if your place really matters.

And sometimes you start asking yourself:

β€œDo people really see me for who I am?”

Maybe you've felt that way too.

Maybe you've spent years being there for others, making sacrifices, showing up and doing what you can, but somehow you still feel unseen.

After a while, that feeling can become heavy.

You may even start wondering if you belong where you are.

But I've been reminding myself of something important:

Being overlooked does not make me less valuable.

My worth isn't decided by how much attention I receive or whether people recognise everything I do.

I know who I am.

I know what I carry.

I know the heart I have.

And perhaps sometimes we need to stop looking outside ourselves for proof that we matter.

Because we matter, even when we don't feel seen.

And if a place constantly makes you question your worth, it's okay to start thinking about what kind of environment you want for yourself and the people you love.

Sometimes choosing a different path isn't about running away.

Sometimes it's about choosing a place where your heart can breathe.

β˜• Today's tea question:

Have you ever been in a place where you felt unseen, even though you were right there?

If you have, I hope you remember this:

You don't become less valuable simply because someone failed to see your value. 🀍

β˜•πŸ‘‘ DAY 91 β€” TODAY'S TEA CONVERSATION

Not Everything Deserves Your Energy

Have you ever had something happen and realised afterwards how much of your day you gave to it?

A comment someone made.
A situation that didn't go your way.
Something you couldn't change.
Or simply something that kept playing in your mind.

Sometimes we give things far more of ourselves than they deserve.

We replay what happened, think about what we should have said, and carry something that may have lasted only a few minutes for the rest of the day.

But does everything deserve that much of us?

Not every comment needs an answer.
Not every situation needs our involvement.
Not every opinion needs our attention.

Our energy is limited, so where we spend it matters.

Sometimes choosing not to argue isn't losing. Sometimes walking away is wisdom.

So ask yourself:

β€œIs this worth the space I'm giving it?”

If the answer is no, it's okay to put it down.

Take your energy back and give it to the things that truly matter, to the people you love, the dreams you're building, and yourself.

Because your energy is precious.

Spend it wisely. 🀍

β˜• Today's tea question:
What has been taking more of your energy than it deserves?
