19 June 2024 marks the inaugural LLR Football Festival taking place in the hometown of professional footballer Luke Le Roux situated in Idas Valley, Stellenbosch. His journey started at the age of 4 on the same football pitch wherein today’s events took place.
Luke hosted a Football festival for all the community children in a bid to give back to football stars of tomorrow. The morning started with some activities for the children to get to know each other better and then progressed to some football training and insights guided by Luke and other football mentors.
Today was another example of how much sport, leaders, role models and its community can come together and make a change, however small.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has been on this journey with Luke and also to all the family, friends and community members of the broader Stellenbosch for making the day such an success. We hope this is the beginning of something big and as stated by Luke in his speech to the children “die is vir my mense”.
