Stanford Street Festival

Stanford Street Festival Stanford Street Festival 2019 cancelled. It’s all there waiting for you. Maybe the children would like to see the acrobats falling and twisting in the street.

For more information on Stanford events, please contact the tourism office on [email protected] Walk the Main Street without worrying about cars to view more than 160 stalls selling everything from hand crafted silver jewellery to antiques and collectables,
wooden sunglasses to wire and metal work, children’s and vintage clothes to linen, bric-a-brac to

handmade toys, handmade jewellery to Christmas cards and gifts, essential oils, soap, handmade chocolates and much, much more. Last year an estimated 4,500 people enjoyed all that the Festival had to offer and we’re expecting even more this year

Spend some time sampling the produce of our local wine estates along with some from as far away as Stellenbosch and Worcester and we haven’t forgotten the beer drinkers either with Birkenhead being on show and we hope a number of micro-breweries as well. For the bon viveur there’s a chance to enjoy a goodly helping of Cap Classique and oysters along with the opportunity to sample international prize winning cheeses and experience the heady delights of drinking Mead. This year, by popular demand, the food area will be next to the Wine and Beer Garden, so you will be able to enjoy a glass while sampling some of our cuisines ranging from Chinese to Mexican with Italian, French, German, American and South African thrown in. What greater fun can you have than the chance to test your skills with one of our Racing Snails in our “Ready Steady Slow Snail Race”. Maybe the younger members of the family might like to take part in trying the “Spar Stanford Dip Board Race” where they can win big cash prizes. Perhaps best of all is Father Christmas arriving in a vintage motor cycle sidecar with his sack over his shoulder. Is that it? Well there’s still more with the Whale Express Powered Cart rides, Live Music, Pony Rides, Face Painting, it goes on and on! And we haven’t forgotten the culture vultures. Local resident galleries welcome you to browse through the local oils, water colours, sculptures and designs, and maybe even take one home to add to your collection. Putting in a special appearance will be the Iziko Travelling Museum who have come all the way from Cape Town just to make sure that we all have a chance to sample all that the South African Museum has to offer. It’s all happening on Sunday 17 December. So why not brighten up you summer holiday with a visit to Stanford, one of the few Heritage Villages left in South Africa experience it’s Victorian charm, original early settlers village green, meandering river and beautiful Wandelpad plus the Festival. What more could you want for the Family. Plenty of public parking on the Market Square.
