Based in the magnificent Karkloof valley outside of Howick, KZN, South Africa, the Karkloof 100 caters for all levels of trail runners with a variety of distances, formats and terrain. The event is presented by KZN Trail Running, and our mission is to deliver world-class trail races in one of South Africa’s most pristine environments, while uplifting and involving the local community. The flagship race of the event is the Karkloof 100, a 100 Mile Trail Endurance Race, which is the first race to start and the last to end over race weekend. The race incorporates international best practice from established, world-famous 100 milers, whilst adding its own uniquely South African flavour.

To honour the 10th year of the event, our 10 milers will each receive a 500ml Orial soft flask and our 20 miler runners will each be receiving a limited edition ‘decade on the trail’ 530ml new school flask from Orial!

Our 30 miler runners will each be receiving a limited edition ‘decade on the trail’ 750ml straw lid Orial flask!

Our 50 miler runners will each be receiving a limited edition ‘decade on the trail’ Original dry-bag backpack from Orial!

Our 3rd and final day of the Karkloof Training camp started at the magnificent sawmill of Benvie gardens. This is where our 50 miler race starts and marks the halfway point for our 100 miler runners.

The section through the Benvie forests and Mbona private nature reserve makes for some of the finest trail running in South Africa. Just ask our training camp runners!
