At parkrun you always have an ADVANTAGE- a fun free 5km run/jog/walk CONVERTED into a run credit and Discovery points (if you are a Discovery member). All you need is your barcode and yourself. 27 volunteers. 200 participants. 1 fantastic morning. 😎

This smiling bunch (plus a few camera-shy volunteers who escaped the photo!) helped make yesterday's event run like clockwork.

We celebrated:
🎉 Heinrich's 100th parkrun
🎉 Venesh's 200th parkrun (and being our 200th finisher!)
🎉 Ilane's 50th volunteer milestone

The best part? Most of these volunteers started out as participants who simply decided to give volunteering a go.

No special skills required—just a willingness to help and enjoy being part of an amazing community. If you've been thinking about volunteering, consider this your sign! We promise the hi-vis vests are very flattering. 😉

🌍🏃‍♂️ A Special Visitor Returns to Norm-Hudlin Trails 🏃‍♂️🌍

We were delighted to welcome back Jabulani Mkhize to Norm-Hudlin Trails parkrun.

Jabulani first visited us way back in 2022, when our event was still in its infancy and running on the original course. More than 4 years later, it was wonderful to see him return and experience how our event has grown.

What makes Jabulani's visit even more remarkable is his incredible parkrun journey. This weekend he completed his 599th parkrun, putting him just one run away from the extraordinary milestone of 600 parkruns! 🤯👏

But it's not just the number that is impressive. Jabulani is one of South Africa's most prolific parkrun tourists, having visited hundreds of different parkrun events over the years, sharing the parkrun spirit wherever he goes. Yet despite his incredible achievements, he remains one of the most humble, friendly and approachable people you could hope to meet.

Thank you for choosing to visit Norm-Hudlin Trails again, Jabulani. It was an honour to host you, and we wish you all the best as you prepare to celebrate your 600th parkrun milestone. We hope our slightly wetter-than-usual trails provided a memorable stop on your parkrun travels! 💚

🌿 Norm-Hudlin Trails parkrun #217 | 30 May 2026 🌿

The final parkrun of May delivered another wonderful morning on the trails, with just enough lingering wet patches from the recent rains to keep everyone on their toes! Apart from that, things went swimmingly!😄💦 Despite the slightly soggy conditions in places, 200 parkrunners and walkers joined us for a fantastic morning of community, fresh air and fun.

This week, 7 people completed their very first parkrun, while 24 participants recorded new PBs. Congratulations to each of you! Representatives from 14 different clubs were also out enjoying the Norm-Hudlin hospitality.

👏 Volunteer Milestones 👏

💚 Venesh Athimoolam reached an incredible 200 volunteer credits. As our co-Event Director, Venesh has been a driving force behind Norm-Hudlin, always willing to lend a hand, solve a problem, encourage a volunteer or welcome a newcomer. His contribution to parkrun extends far beyond the numbers, but 200 volunteer credits is certainly worth celebrating!

💚 Ilané Rall celebrated her 50th volunteer milestone. Ilané brings a smile, warmth and sunshine to the volunteer team each week, and we are so grateful for her enthusiasm and willingness to help wherever needed. Congratulations, Ilané!

💚 Thank You Volunteers

As always, none of this would be possible without our amazing team of 27 volunteers, who gave up their time to make the event happen safely and smoothly. From setup and marshalling to scanning, timing and token sorting, every role matters, and every volunteer is appreciated.

As we head into June, we're grateful for another successful event, a thriving community, and the wonderful people who make Norm-Hudlin Trails parkrun such a special place every Saturday morning.
