Netstar to keep Comrades Marathon Runners and Spectators on Track🚗!
The Comrades Marathon is a national moment that belongs to every South African who has ever lined up at the start, cheered from the roadside, or stayed up to watch the final cutoff. Making that moment better for everyone navigating KZN's roads on race day takes more than passion. It takes the right technology, deployed by the right partner.
We are proud to welcome Netstar to the Comrades family in 2026. Netstar will deploy its real-time traffic-monitoring technology across the entire 85.777 kilometres of the race route on 14 June, providing our operations team with live intelligence from 03:00 to 19:30. A Netstar helicopter will provide aerial coverage throughout the day. Marshals on the ground will be tracked in real time using Netstar's StarTag technology. And when congestion builds at interchanges, spectator access points, and the route's known pressure areas, Netstar operatives will immediately alert the Venue Operations Centre with the location, severity, and recommended actions so that resources reach the right place before the situation escalates.

Real-time traffic updates and route information will be available on our official social media channels throughout race da, so whether you're tracking your runner, planning your spectator route, or simply trying to get home, the information you need will be there when you need it.
