We are exceptionally proud to congratulate Matthew Lamprecht who was named the Runner Up in the Junior Category at Friday evening's 2026 UCT Strings Competition! 👏🏼✨️

Held in the beautifully intimate Baxter Concert Hall, Matthew was accompanied by Ms Tertia Visser-Downie who shone alongside him. 🎹

It is notable to mention that Matthew was the only violinist in the Junior Category to make it to the Final Round!

We extend our congratulations to Matthew, Ms Visser-Downie, as well as teacher, Mr Duminy and Matthew's proud parents! 🎶💐

On Sunday, 20 September, our Senior Strings will perform their annual recital, under the expert guidance of Mr Hadley Duminy. 🎻🎉

The concert will be the last for Sadé Theunissen, Lea Prinsloo and Matthew Lamprecht as music centre learners, who are in Gr 12 this year.

We're excited to have FPMC alumni, Carolyn Adams and Vialli Mocke join us to perform alongside our talented learners!

Tomorrow, Matthew Lamprecht will perform in the First Round (Junior Category) of the 2026 UCT Strings Competition!

This marks our centre’s first participation in the competition, and we are exceptionally proud to see Matthew showcase his musical prowess on such a grand stage. 🎻✨

Matthew will perform at 16:45, at the Baxter Concert Hall and the First Round is not open to the public.

We’re SO, SO, SO PROUD of our learners who recently performed in two competitions, namely Adriaan Nel in the Johann Vos Music Competition, on 22 August and Mvelo Makeng, and Kayleb Martin in the Talento Singing Competition, on 05 September.

Each one of you have braved new stages, adventured new worlds and grown in light-years – the brightest of futures await you! 💛🎶

We are exceptionally proud of our talented saxophonist, Adriaan Nel who will be performing in The National Youth Music Competition! 🎉🎶

The competition will take place from 01 - 05 December in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch and is not-to-be-missed. 😉

At 17, AJ Nel is making his debut at the 2026 National Youth Music Competition. The Wellington matriculant entered the competition to measure his abilities against other musicians and hopes to gain valuable performance experience while working towards a major goal.

As part of our community outreach, a proud partnership has been established with the Athlone House of Strength, a safehouse for women and children affected by the pandemic that is gender-based violence.

The remedial music programme, created for the women and mothers in recovery, offer a gentle introduction to the restorative power of music.

The goal is restoration - helping each woman connect to her own body, her own voice and her own emotional life through the universal language of sound.

Specially designed and facilitated by our principal, Mr Hendrik Marais, Music as Medicine©️ reminds each one present that, 'I Am Still Here', 'I Have a Voice', and 'Music is Mine'. 🎶💜
