Here, you’ll find lush green grass, a serene lake, fresh drinking water, ample shade, and five-star ablutions with hot showers. At its core, Louvain Burn is a music festival with a “Burn” experience, honoring the ancient tradition of ceremonial burning—a practice of gathering, singing, drumming, and dancing that has united people for thousands of years.

The announcement of the Louvain Burn Music & Arts Festival dates — and early bird tickets going live — has me reminiscing about the magic we shared in the forest last winter.
Golden light filtering through the trees.
Music drifting across the valley.
Late-night firelight.
Connection, creativity, and that unmistakable Burn energy.
Here are a few moments I captured at the Winter Edition in August — a beautiful gathering of friends and like-minded souls in one of the Garden Route’s most special settings.

We're excited to announce that our next event will be taking place on the weekend of the 4th - 7th of September 2026.

Due to the unavailability of burn permits during the dry and windy summer months we can no longer legally host a burn in February and therefore Louvain Burn will be moving forward on an annual only basis during the first weekend of September every year.

We're looking forward to hosting you again at what has developed to be one of the Garden Route's most special and intimate hybrid music gatherings.

We welcome Hakkiesdraad Hartman to our Louvain Burn line-up 🔥

Jason Demetri Hartman, better known by his Hip-Hop, poetry, and storytelling persona Hakkiesdraad Hartman, is a versatile creative who explores many forms of artistic expression. Born and raised in George and now residing in Mossel Bay—both along South Africa’s scenic Garden Route—Hartman has carved out a unique space in the cultural landscape.

His music is uplifting, motivational, and educational, leaving audiences inspired and in good spirits. Known for blending comedy skits into his live performances with hints of cabaret flair, he uses creativity as both entertainment and empowerment. Deeply rooted in his indigenous Khoi heritage, Hartman draws on his ancestry and artistic voice to confront social issues, with community responsibility and social upliftment remaining central to his work.

Beyond music, Hartman has appeared in two films (Weerwraak and Moordenaars Karoo) and is a familiar face on the hit sitcom Ouma Sarie (e-Extra channel). Currently, he is writing his debut novel, developing a new untitled album set for release in September 2025, and preparing two upcoming music videos.

Driven by the vision of making a positive impact, Hartman seeks to contribute to the world through his artistry, while fostering collaboration and building bridges across communities.
