🌙💛 This is your reminder: the GB Night Ride & Stroll is for families too

One of the most special moments of the evening had nothing to do with speed or distance.
It was a small girl, nestled safely with her family, receiving a medal 🏅✨

She didn’t ride 30 km.
She didn’t cycle 15 km.
She didn’t walk the full 5 km on her own.

She was pushed, guided, and surrounded by love the entire way. And when her medal was given to her the excitement and joy on her face — and on her family’s faces — said everything 💛

This is what the GB Night Ride & Stroll is truly about.
Creating space for families.
Making room for little ones.
Showing children what togetherness, encouragement, and community look like — even in the dark.

So when you’re planning your stroll next time, bring the kids along 🌙✨

🌙🚴‍♂️💛 Sometimes the smallest beginnings grow into the most meaningful stories…

Last year, one rider arrived at the GB Night Ride with just his bike and a whole lot of enthusiasm. He was on holiday in the area and wanted to be part of the experience — even though he didn’t have everything he needed.
A helmet was organised, a few helping hands stepped in, and just like that, he was ready to ride.

That night, he didn’t just complete the route.
He became part of the GB Night Ride story.

This year, he returned — but this time, he brought his wife with him.

Because that’s what happens when something truly stays with you. You want to share it.
They rode together, supported each other through the dark, and crossed the finish line as a team 🏅✨
A holiday moment turned into a shared memory, created under the glow of bike lights and community spirit.

For us, this is what makes the GB Night Ride special 💛
It’s where visitors become regulars.
Where one rider becomes two.
Where a simple night ride becomes something worth coming back for.

And we already know — this won’t be the last time we see them 🌙✨

🚴‍♂️💛 Some stories stay with us long after the lights go out…

Last year, two riders joined the GB Night Ride for the first time. They travelled from Wilderness, escaping the holiday calm for one evening to be part of something different — riding together through the dark, lights on, strangers becoming encouragement along the road.

They didn’t just finish the ride.
They fell in love with the experience.

So much so, that this year they came back — but not alone.

This time, they brought their family with them. Four more people joined the journey. More laughter at the start, more voices cheering along the road, more proud smiles at the finish line when medals were handed out 🏅✨
What began as two riders became a family moment, shared under the stars.

They told us they enjoyed it so much that next year, even more of their family will be joining. A simple ride has now become a tradition — one they plan their holidays around, one they look forward to returning to again and again.

This is why the GB Night Ride means so much to us 💛
It’s not just about kilometres — whether it’s 30 km, 15 km, or a 5 km stroll.
It’s about connection.
It’s about memories.
It’s about families choosing to experience something together, and coming back because it feels like home.

The GB Night Ride & Stroll reminded us how powerful it is when people support each other — especially in the dark. Along the road, riders became motivators, walkers became cheerleaders, and the finish line became a celebration for all.

The Night That Brought Everyone Together

From a 30 km ride, to a 15 km ride, to a 5 km stroll — the GB Night Ride & Stroll wasn’t about distance.
It was about the experience 💛

Riding and walking through the dark, lights glowing, strangers becoming teammates along the road. Families crossed the finish line together, solo riders found encouragement where they least expected it, and every medal told a story of perseverance and support.

Looking for a relaxed way to join the GB Night Ride & Stroll?
The 5 km Night Stroll gives you all the atmosphere of the event — the lights, the energy, the holiday spirit — without needing a bike. Bring the kids, bring your friends, bring your lights, and enjoy Groot-Brakrivier after dark.

5 km Stroll: R80 (R100 on the day)
