THE AFRICA WE ARE YET TO BUILD 🌍

I often find myself thinking about the Africa that is not yet here.

Not only the Africa we inherited.
Not only the Africa we complain about.
But the Africa we are going to make.

What will Africa look like when our children are our age?

Will they inherit the same limitations, inequalities and dependence? Or will they inherit an Africa that has learned to turn its people, knowledge, creativity, culture, technology and resources into a future of its own making?

I imagine an Africa where a child from an ordinary township can grow up knowing that science, technology, art, sport, education, enterprise and culture all belong to them.

An Africa that does not have to choose between tradition and technology.

An Africa that can honour where it comes from while boldly designing where it is going.

Our children should not simply inherit the future.

They should inherit the confidence, knowledge and tools to create it.

Maybe our responsibility is not to predict the future.

Maybe it is to imagine it, prepare for it and start building it.

Because one day, our children will look back at our generation and ask:

“What did you do with the Africa you were given?”

That question belongs to us.

"THE ONES WHO VULA"

To the children of Vukuhambe,
Today we don’t just clap for you,
We see you.
We see the early mornings,
The late nights,
The dreams bigger than your school bags.

VULA means OPEN.
So open your mind.
VUKA means WAKE.
So wake up to who you’re becoming.
HAMBA means WALK.
So walk boldly into your future.

You are not just students.
You are the leaders we’ve been waiting for.
Vula Festival believes in you.
Vula Festival stands with you.
And your future starts NOW.

🌟 THE SPIRIT OF VULA CONTINUES BEYOND JUNE 16 🌟

The Vula Festival is proud to continue its journey of celebrating talent, honouring community, and inspiring the future.

As part of our annual post-festival programme, we will be visiting the communities and schools of our performers to recognise their contribution and celebrate their talents.

Our first stop is Vukuhambe Special School, where we will present Certificates of Appreciation to our performers, endorsed by Professor Patrick Tikolo.

We are deeply honoured to welcome Mama Nzwaki Yekiso as our Special Guest and Certificate Presenter.

This is more than a certificate handover. It is our way of saying thank you to the young people, educators, families and communities who continue to make Vula possible.

The stage may close, but the work continues.
Vula is more than a festival — it is a journey. ❤️💜✨

🕊️💔 A MESSAGE TO THE VULA FESTIVAL FAMILY 💔🕊️

To all supporters, participants, volunteers, athletes, artists and friends of the Vula Festival vision,

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of one of our own, Live Dyani, a participant in our Rugby 7s programme and a valued member of our extended Vula family.

Live represented the spirit of youth, courage, teamwork and community that Vula Festival seeks to celebrate and nurture. Her passing has left us shocked, saddened and heartbroken.

As we continue to celebrate the successes of Vula Festival 2026, we are reminded that life is precious and that our greatest strength lies in our ability to stand together during difficult times.

We ask the entire Vula Festival family to keep Live's family, friends, teammates and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

May we honour her memory through kindness, unity and support for one another.

Lala ngoxolo Live Dyani.
Your journey has ended, but your place in the Vula family will remain forever.

🕊️ Rest in Peace.
❤️ Forever in our hearts.
