Winter Chills and Warm Milestones: Rose parkrun Lenasia Event #310
The winter chill is officially making its presence felt, but it took more than a frosty morning to keep our dedicated community away! This Saturday, 16 May 2026, 138 passionate participants laced up their running shoes, defied the cold, and brought an incredible energy to Rose parkrun Lenasia for Event #310.
It was a beautiful morning of community spirit, made even better by the vibrant mix of local regulars, enthusiastic parkrun tourists, and, of course, our beloved four-legged fur friends who kept the pace lively. It was especially heartwarming to see so many parents wrap up warm and bring their children along to enjoy the fresh air and the outdoors—the perfect antidote to a lazy Saturday morning.
A Special Homecoming
The chilly air was instantly warmed by a very special reunion. Today, we extended an extra warm welcome back to Natasha Makkan, a visitor all the way from Centurion. Natasha is a familiar face to the Rose parkrun family, having been one of the very first CREW members to put up their hands when our parkrun first started. It was an absolute joy to have her back on the course where it all began!
Celebrating an Incredible Milestone
The highlight of the morning, however, belonged to a true pillar of our community. The entire Rose parkrun family stands together in congratulating our long-serving, 82-year-old Uncle Ismail Coovadia, who officially completed his 150th volunteer milestone today!
Uncle Ismail is the epitome of dedication and selflessness. Week after week, rain or shine (and certainly in the biting cold), he is out there ensuring our event runs smoothly. Reaching 150 volunteer milestones is an extraordinary achievement, and we are deeply grateful for his continued devotion to our community. You are an inspiration to us all, Uncle Ismail!
A Massive Thank You to Our CREW
An event like this doesn't happen without the incredible individuals who clock in before the sun is fully up. A massive thank you to our phenomenal CREW for braving the cold, standing with smiles on their faces, and keeping everyone safe and motivated.
See you all next week—same time, same place. Don’t forget your barcodes!
