“The event had a strong retro-futuristic, pop-culture feel. Pop Art and filmmaking both take familiar things and frame them in a way that makes you see them differently.

In the same way, we wanted guests to recognise elements of the food instantly, but then look twice.

The menu was built around iconic references, nostalgia and a little playful disruption. We took dishes people know and love and presented them as if they belonged in a gallery rather than on a buffet table.

The result was something that felt familiar and futuristic at the same time, which mirrored the VRtuosus brand beautifully.

The food gallery included dishes inspired by icons and mass media. We looked at artists and cultural moments that transformed everyday objects into icons.

Andy Warhol could make a soup tin famous. Roy Lichtenstein could turn a comic book frame into fine art.

Food works in much the same way. A burger, a canapé or a bowl of popcorn can be completely ordinary until context changes everything.

Those references helped us create a visual language guests could immediately recognise, while still leaving room for interpretation and play.”
