Africa Week Festival We are all aware that 25 May 2013 marked the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Organisation of African Unity and the institution of Africa Day.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of democracy in South Africa. We believe that it is important to celebrate these two events as we continue to work for continental unity and cooperation and as we continue to fight the scourge of xenophobia and ignorance of our Pan-African history. ille Bellevue Community Development Forum (YBCDT) – an NGO working for the holistic socio-economic development of Yeoville Bellevue – successfully hosted the first-ever Africa Week Carnival and Festival in Yeoville Bellevue which become an annual event. This area was chosen because it is home to Migrants from more African countries than anywhere else in South Africa. – We believe it could be developed as a shining example of Pan-African cooperation and cultural diversity.
