๐ŸŒ World Environment Day reminds us that the future of our planet starts right at home.

Every garden, balcony, schoolyard, and open space has the potential to become a sanctuary for nature. By planting indigenous species, allowing grasses to flower, leaving leaves beneath trees, returning wood and organic matter to the soil, creating habitat for pollinators, harvesting rainwater, composting, and reducing waste, we can rebuild the small ecosystems that support life around us.

The path to a healthier environment begins with the choices we make every day. Together, our gardens can become stepping stones for biodiversity, creating healthier communities and a more resilient future for all.

๐ŸŒฟ Leave the leaves.
๐Ÿ Create habitat for pollinators.
๐ŸŒฑ Plant indigenous species.
๐Ÿชต Return organic matter to the soil.
Reduce, reuse and recycle.
๐ŸŒ Start at home.

Forests are one of the planetโ€™s most powerful climate solutions.

By absorbing COโ‚‚ emissions, forests help regulate temperatures, protect biodiversity and strengthen resilience against climate impacts.

But climate change, drought, wildfires and land degradation continue to place increasing pressure on these vital natural systems.

Protecting and restoring nature is essential to protecting our future.

June is celebrated as Environment Month under the theme:

The theme focuses on reducing food waste and protecting the environment. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), around 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted every year.

Think before throwing food away.
Eat responsibly by choosing locally produced and environmentally friendly foods.
Save by reducing waste and using resources wisely.

When food is wasted, all the water, energy, and resources used to produce it are also wasted. The campaign therefore encourages communities to make better choices and become more environmentally conscious.
