Today is the last chance to pre-enter Saturday's Illovo Wartburg Classic MTB & Trail run ... this is always a well-organised event on brilliant trails. It is also the penultimate event in the Quattro ROAG Series for the 2022/23 season and the opening leg of the Quattro ROAG KZN MTB Marathon Series for 2023.

The ride and run on Saturday is looking good with the weather gods holding off with the rain until the afternoon and perfect midweek weather for the trailbuilders to fine-tune the trails.

Sad news. This is always a great event. The plan is to reschedule and hold it at another date.

The event organisers and course manager for the AGT Eston Xmas Classic are sorry to have to announce the 2022 event will have to be postponed due to extreme weather which has made the course unsuitable for an event.

This decision was not taken lightly and the organisers understand the call to postpone will disappoint those riders and runners who pre-entered, as well as the participants who were intending to enter on the day.

The weather front which has moved across the Eston area has brought high rainfall and there is little chance the conditions will improve, making suitable course preparation almost impossible. The event organisers, in consultation with all stakeholders, have made the difficult call to postpone rather than try and hold an event that is unlikely to be enjoyable for participants.

A new date has not yet been finalised, but once the date and details are confirmed, all pre-entrants will be contacted with details of the new dates and possible refund or carry-over options will be communicated.

The event organisers, course managers, sponsors and ROAG apologise for any inconvenience.

Just two more sleeps until pre-entries close on Wednesday for the AGT ESTON XMAS CLASSIC ... and six more bedtime stories until you can start your Christmas celebrations with the most fun-filled MTB and trail run in KZN.

We don't mind if you have been naughty or nice in 2022, all will be forgiven if you enter and help the Nippers Pre-School raise funds ... but Father Christmas will be grumpy and make you pay a little extra for a late entry if you are lazy and do not pre-enter before midnight on Wednesday.

The final countdown to the Central Berg Trail Running and MTB Challenge has begun and ROAG is offering entrants a chance to win a free entry to one of the remaining events in the Quattro ROAG Series powered by Momentum.

To qualify for a free entry to either the 2023 Wartburg Classic, or 2023 SMG MTB Classic, the final two events of the series, riders and trail runners must have entered the Central Berg event before Friday (so before midnight on Thursday, November 3). Only fully paid up entries via the ROAG.org site will be entered into the draw.

Two winners will be randomly drawn from all the pre-entrants on Friday: one for the trail running and one for the MTB events. The winner will receive a free entry to be used in the equivalent event at either Wartburg or the SMG MTB Classic. The prize is non-transferrable.

The Central Berg event will take place on November 13 at the beautiful Champagne Sports resort and will take runners and riders on some of the best trails of the popular Cathkin Trail network.

Two weeks until race day. Spectacular setting in the foothills of the Drakensberg, superb venue at Champagne Sports Resort and great routes in Cathkin Valley.

TWO WEEKS UNTIL CENTRAL BERG!

There are just over two weeks until the Central Berg Trail Running and MTB Challenge is hosted at one of the country's top sports holiday resorts. The trail running and MTB events both take place on Sunday, 13th November, but the Champagne Valley, and Champagne Sports Resort in particular, is a perfect venue for an extended weekend getaway.

The long and short trail run and the 20km and 40km MTB routes will take participants through the best parts of the wonderful Cathkin Trail network.

This will be the seventh and final event of the year in the Quattro ROAG Series powered by Momentum, although the 2022 series will wrap up with two events in early 2023 for a total of nine races. That means riders and runners will need to complete a total of six of the nine events to qualify as a series finisher or prizewinner.

LAST CHANCE FOR SOME LOCAL LAP RACING IN 2022

The third leg of the the Local Lap Challenge will see hundreds of school boys and girls in action at the Crawford International North Coast campus on Sunday when the 2022 series wraps up.

After two successful events in June and August, the young MTB enthusiasts have a last chance to show off their skills when racers, ranging in age from from U8 Sub Nippers up to high school Open, take to the course on Sunday from 8am.

The event is organised by the Sugar Rats MTB Club and registration and official course practice starts at 6.30am.

The next leg of the Quattro ROAG Series powered by Momentum is the always-popular Kamberg Classic. This is one of those "has it all" events: There is a wide range of races to suit all fitness and skill levels, and it takes place at Glengarry Holiday Farm, which means it is both one of the most spectacular venues for a mini trail festival and there is lots of accommodation on hand.

Riders have no less than five distances to choose from, ranging from the kiddies 3km up to the testing 60km on Sunday; and runners have the option to tackle the 3, 7 or 14 km races on Saturday.
