Nina Fourie- Gouws a stunning performer from Stellenbosch who lectures Classical Guitar at the Stellenbosch Conservertoire, kicks off the the concert series on 30 September. is one in September is sure impress audiences. Nina is known for her strong playing and ability to interpret the music in a passionate and disciplined manner. Her interpretation and expertise comes from all the workshops she attended abroad and many hours spent practising and performing. Peter Narun is one of Cape Town's gems. His guitar playing is warm and inviting. He is known for his sensitive touch which follows the many melodic lines of the piece. Peter's repertoire spans many classical genres including Cuban and Arabic music. His album NOVA was a sell out and will be on sale at the concert on 9 October. Our third performer, Derek Gripper needs no introduction... he is the first South African UCT graduate to have collaborated and performed with John Williams in London. His career took a turn when he received a call from the Maestro a year ago asking him to come and play. Derek transcribes Kora Music from Mali onto the classical gutiar. He has recorded a total of 8 albums the most recent one being The Sound of Water. Derek's playing is mesmerizing and will have you in a hypnotic state of peaceful contemplation as you sit quietly in your concert chairs. Remember to book early to make sure you get a seat. Lastly, Diego Campagna is our first international world renowned artiste to grace the stage in the Art of Guitar concert series. Diego Campagna hails from Italy and is known for his flawless passionate playing of the classical guitar. His debut in the Carnegie hall in January this year was a sellout and he got a standing ovation as he exited the stage. Diego is a charismatic player who sound resembles pure poetry. He is well loved and respected worldwide and was recently given the Key to the City of Rhode Island, Newport by the Mayor. This concert is a must for serious guitarists. Book early to get a seat.
