⚡ WLFA News Special – Confusion Clouds Promotion Race
The Witzenberg Promotional League is heading for a stormy conclusion this weekend, but instead of clarity, confusion reigns.
Sunrise FC have already written two formal letters of complaint regarding their fixture against Young Chiefs FC, where a fraudulently registered player was fielded. According to SAFA Competition Rules, the outcome is clear:
Sunrise FC should be awarded 3 points and 2 goals.
The Disciplinary Committee (DC) should then deal with Young Chiefs separately.
Yet, despite the rules, Sunrise FC have not been awarded their rightful points. This delay has created a dangerous situation:
SBM Ajax currently believe they lead the log by 5 points.
In reality, under the rules, the gap should be 3 points.
⚔️ This sets up a volatile scenario: if Sunrise FC defeat SBM Ajax on Sunday, 07 June 2026, both clubs will claim to be champions.
Sunrise FC will argue they are champions based on the rules and pending points.
SBM Ajax will argue they are champions based on the current log.
📢 The risk is real: confusion on the log could spill over into fights on the field, damaging the integrity of the competition and the reputation of the league.
🏆 What Must Happen
Witzenberg LFA must urgently apply the competition rules before the final fixture.
Sunrise FC’s 3 points and 2 goals must be awarded without delay.
The DC can then proceed with sanctions against Young Chiefs FC.
⚖️ Football integrity is non‑negotiable. Without decisive action, the Witzenberg Promotional League risks ending in chaos rather than celebration.
