An intelligence-driven takedown has resulted in the arrest of 11 suspects tied to an alleged fuel theft scheme at a Meyerton fuel plant.

Bidvest Protea Coin's Tactical Unit and Airwing played a pivotal role, partnering with a multi-agency task team—including the Hawks' Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS), Non-Ferrous Section Headquarters, Vaal Rand Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit, and Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing. Acting on credible intel, we intercepted the suspects and vehicles mid-operation, with the site under constant surveillance.

Aged between 27 and 46, these individuals allegedly coordinated their efforts, with investigations now probing possible internal involvement after criminal syndicates exploited the depot’s resources. Findings suggest the depot, reportedly under administration, may have had operational vulnerabilities.

This operation underscores the power of collaborative, intel-led strategies in dismantling organised crime and securing critical infrastructure.
