I grew up in a time when body shaming and fat shaming were almost normal.
We were taught to criticise our bodies instead of appreciate them.
I’m a dentist, a woman, and I’ve been an amputee for 30 years.
Now, at 50, I’m learning to see my body differently.
This body has carried me through so much — trauma, challenges, motherhood, working as a dentist, and new beginnings. It has adapted, healed and allowed me to keep living and enjoying life.
I celebrate being a woman — my curves, my strength, my femininity, my scars and my prosthetic.
I’m sharing this to promote body positivity, self-acceptance and kindness towards ourselves.
Our worth is not defined by our age, size, shape or physical differences.
