WHSS 2020
World Healthcare students Symposium, WHSS, is the largest student healthcare conference of its kind. It was initiated in 2005 as a product of collaboration between 8 international partner organizations namely; International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF), International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), International Association of Dental Students (IDSA), International Veterinary Students Association (IVSA), European Confederation for Physical Therapy Students (ECPTS), European Dental Students’ Association (EDSA), European Medical Students’ Association (EMSA), European Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (EPSA).
Featuring a variety of talks, workshops and events, this 4 day event promises to be an exciting opportunity to learn, tackle global health challenges and build international networks. It is held once in two years and South Africa is the proud host of its 8th edition. In 2020, WHSS will be hosted at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and will take place from 14 to 19 June, 2020.
When contemplating a theme, it became evident that contradiction abounds. Not only in philosophies of provision, but in practice and policy: while some nations apply their efforts steadfastly to nationally implemented, co-ordinately funded interventions; others gravitate towards commodified healthcare, super-specialisation and personalised therapies. The unwavering question remains, however: how do we meet the needs of an ever-growing, increasingly complex and nuanced population, the longevity of which will be unparalleled in the coming century? As such, we present the theme for WHSS 2020 - Collisions in Healthcare: Youth Leading Health for All. For more information, go to www.whss2020.com
