Whether you're in the Southern or Northern Hemisphere, Easter is considered a time for new beginnings.

Five years ago, if you had told me I'd be wearing a Joseon Naval Warrior Costume, yielding a sword in South Korea, I would have said: "Yeah, right."

The things we want may seem unachievable right now, but if you set a goal and keep working towards it, you will get there.

I faced many challenges getting to this point (at one stage, I thought I wasn't even going to be part of the race), and now here I am.

5 legs down. 3 to go ⚓💪

Throwback to my time in China, where I ticked off a small goal that’s been on the list for a while...

We’d been driven to a huge mall for some PR with one of the race sponsors. Incredible shop, beautiful products… and the chance to roll up my sleeves and give horse bread a go (it is the year of the horse after all) 🐎🍞.

One thing this journey keeps reminding me is that big adventures are made up of small goals along the way.

Set a goal. Chase it. Then find the next one.

Ever walked down the street and had your dinner look you in the eye? 🐟

Here in Tongyeong, it’s completely normal to see tanks of live fish sitting on the footpath. Stall after stall. Fresh seafood, swimming right there on the side of the road.

For someone from Hawke’s Bay, it’s a bit confronting at first. Back home, we’re used to neatly wrapped fillets in the supermarket. Here, freshness means the fish is still deciding whether it wants to be dinner yet.

Travel, and this race, has a funny way of doing that. It puts you in places that feel unfamiliar, sometimes uncomfortable… but that’s exactly where the interesting stuff happens. 🌏

This is what happens when you run over a fishing net...

Team Seattle had this around their prop, so had to be towed to start off Race 3 and also into Tongeyeong.

They did, however, give us a run for our money in Race 3!

Luckily, we prevailed 🏆

What a welcome in Tongyeong! ⚓

You might not be able to see, but the front of my jacket is soaked from being sprayed with champagne. And the beer can has our team image on!

Aptly, we made first place on this leg 🥇

Looking forward to getting to know this city over the next few days.

Street scenes near where I’m staying, a world away from what many of us are used to.

At times, it can feel confronting, and it’s a reminder of how different life can look depending on where you stand. It makes you pause, reflect, and see things from a new perspective.

This journey keeps reminding me that growth often comes from experiencing worlds beyond our own.

So wherever you are in life, keep saying yes to new experiences.utside my comfort zone, including snorkelling. 🌊

Crystal-clear water, trekking across the island from one beach to the next, and finishing with a well-earned lunch on the other side… not a bad way to spend a day.

This journey keeps reminding me that the best experiences often begin where comfort ends.

So wherever you are in life — keep saying yes to new experiences.

Ever ordered something and instantly regretted it when it arrived? 🍔😅

Last week, we stopped at the yacht club in Subic Bay. Like most yacht clubs we’ve visited on this journey, it was a pretty grand affair...polished decks, incredible views, and food portions that clearly mean business.

Having been rationing at sea for so long, a member of our crew decided to take on a 21oz burger.

Confidence was high. Strategy was discussed.

The burger won.

Moments like this make the whole adventure. New places, great company, and plenty of laughs along the way.

Sailing around the world isn’t just storms and long watches. Sometimes it’s just trying to survive dinner.

What’s the biggest food challenge you’ve ever attempted (and did you finish it)? 👇
